I just bought a sea hare due to a ton of hair algea, and he realy has his work cut out for himself. Anyway i realy like the critter hes a great addition to the display, my question is, will they survive on cheato or Nori?

It isn't always a guarantee depending on the species (I defer to LeslieH the amazing expert we're lucky enough to have here that talks about this sort of stuff)

But you have a good chance of supplementing it with nori after it mows down your algae. If you have quite a large amount of it make sure your water paramters are in check and good quality enough for the little guy to do okay :) Best of luck with him

im looking into my THIRD sea hare that will eat my hair algae. its a no go for the spotted hare(aplysia) and a small green one i just purchased, i assume also an aplysia. i believe the one i need is the species dolabella, just cant seem to find one.

Heres pic i promised

That's Bursatella. It's unlikely that it will eat much hair algae, chaeto, or nori. These guys are mostly cyano and microalgae feeders. I've noticed lately within the past few weeks there's been a huge number of these guys suddenly showing up in the hobby. That makes me suspect that it's breeding season and someone is just going out and collecting them from the huge aggregations they form. If that's the case you may not have to worry about feeding it much longer. They typically gather in huge numbers to mate and lay eggs and after that a lot (but not all) of them die.

I just got my second sea hare, the last one died about 20 minutes after putting it into my tank, but the new one has mowed down every speck of algae! I really got lucky with him, even the little bit of bryopsis wasn't safe! lol. Good luck.
