naw now i miss my seahorses!
i kept 2 for about 5 months and they grew and were quite happy...but back then i had 5 tanks and when i moved back into the main part of the house (due to my brother moving back into the addition) i was only allowed one tank so they had to go as they did not do well in a bigger tank with other fish (and i must admit it was pain feeding them, i give my fish pellets every other day)

Thanks everyone. I bought them from a private breeder in Tennessee. I'm hoping they'll breed and I'll be successful with the fry. These are southern erectus and their fry will actually hitch at birth.
Leah, I don't mind feeding them. It's the diseases they catch that stress me out. I have liquid neomycin on hand for any infections. Hopefully these guys will stay healthy and I won't have to use the meds.

Bamm, it's a 60g irregular hexagon. If you are looking to keep a pair it would be possible to do it in a 29g tall. The 4 I have will go into a 90g hexagon tank in June, but for now the 60g is a good home for them. I don't recommend getting any fish or a lot of corals in a seahorse tank. They really need a species dedicated tank. Also, the temp in the tank needs to be under 74 degrees, 69-72 is ideal, so you may need a chiller.
As for flow, they needsoft flow, but they do require good filtration. Seahorses are very dirty fish. So, if you are interested, give me a few months and if they mate and if I can raise the fry, then I should have seahorses in about 5 months.

The boyz are doing so well!! Both gate students and honor roll... They got it going on, well rounded lil men they are!-) cat is doing well she is such a blessing for me. ever since I broke my back she has been pulling way more then her share..
I would love to have a daughter I even have a clinic that can increase the odds to almost certainty.. We were taking care of twinz one boy one girl and I fell in love with her.. She's not around anymore though so I did get my heart broken

Gobies are generally fine because they are afraid of everything. But seahorses can become stressed out by other fish, even scaredy cat gobies. The stress can kill them. Also, if you are buying captive bred seahorses, there is risk of wild caught fish introducing disease into the tank.
But typically, gobies, bangaii cardinals and other peaceful fish can be kept with seahorses. I just wouldn't recommend it to a beginner because of the above reasons and there are less chances for error if you just worry about one thing in the tank. Once a person has experience with seahorses, then I think it would be ok to try introducing other fish tankmates, just be ready to remove the fish if it starts to cause the seahorses to change their behavior.
