seahorses in a hex tank?

I have a 5 gallon hex tank and I'm planning to plop some seahorses in it. I saw a really great presentation a few weeks ago and I can't wait to get started.

Initially I wanted to go with a Nano Cube, but the cost up front is a little too much. I'd rather spend a few weeks/months scoping out different pieces for less money and then putting it all together myself (much more rewarding, anyway).

My fiancé and I have a beautiful 90 gal aggressive reef, so I do have a helping hand to consult about the basics of saltwater. I am really looking forward to having my own little project to care for :)

I was thinking h. zostrae...but is there anything else that I could comfortably fit in a 5gal tall? I know that mandarin fish make good tank mates...would having them inside require me to have a refugium?

Thanks everyone!

The dwarf seahorse is the only one you could keep in that tank.
Unfortunately, you could not keep a mandarin long in that tank even if you had a refugium for it.
Remember that for the dwarfs you need to feed live BBS all the time and many find that too large a workload.
For a normal sized seahorse pair one needs a minimum 29g tank with the larger horses needing even bigger accommodation.

+1

if you want to go with a smaller setup, you could do a pair of H. fuscus in a 20T, but still too small for a mandy.
