KILL IT!!!

now for the useful information...There's a few ways to kill it. You can use a syringe or baster and hit it right in the center with boiling water (free!) This doesn't always work though since boiling water is tough to keep hot enough. Otherwise you can hit it (again with a baster or syringe) with Joe's Juice, kalk, pickling lime.... The list goes on. Do a quick google search, it should turn up lots of info. Just make sure to hit it quick so it doesn't spread to a full infestation.

I didn't read carefully before I posted. Since it's on the glass of your sump, why can't you just scrape it off?

I got my final bulb and lighting is UP! Not mounted or hung, but up anyways. Here are some pictures, Sorry for the pvc in the tank, it got knocked in and forgot about it.

I also cut myself pretty good by hitting a computer fan with my thumb. This is about 2 seconds after it got hit.

I got my first fish today!!! I got 3 chromis. One of them has already been down the overflow twice... its driving me crazy!! I'm so scared, it seems a little roughed up. Lets hope he learns.

 That is truely Amazing that you actually got a picture !!

Potm anyone ??;) :p

 i wish i had a camera that could take pictures like that.

Those things are Filter feeders, like feather dusters, only smaller and not colored. You will start to get them everywhere in the tank.. most likely places with lots of flow.

By the way, everything is looking great, you did some good planning before you began. To bad the first shipment of rock was shipped poorly.

Reef or fish only ?

oh god !
just saw the post with the aiptasia !

haha just to shake you up a little, those things caused me HELL for 2 years !!
killed my whole reef, and several seahorses. They took over the whole tank. Finally got a butterfly when i went fish only and he ate um all up.
haha then i got rid of him and got myself another reef !

cheers ! and get rid of that thing, and QUICK !!

haha. Good deal on the filter feeders. yeah i removed the aptasia quick. That chromis is freaking me out. two trips down the (temporary) overflow in like 5 hours. right now i have a net over it, so its like a screen, and the fish are just playing in the current. They're so cool. I"m so glad i finally have fish.

Well, i'm getting diatoms all over the sand, and 2 of my chromis died... Its pretty tough when you spend so much money on a system to keep them, then the first 3 fish you get 2/3 of the die. I don't think it was my fault though, i drip acclimated for ~45 minutes, and water qualtiy was fine. (ammonia=o, nitrates=0, nitrites=0)

I also started dripping kalk, got some pickling lime at the store, and some vinegar. There will be pics shortly.

Any advice would be great as this is my first marine, and reef tank. So any tips would be great!
Keep posting!

Well my final chromis died...
I'm kinda taking a little break, a week or so, just so parameters can stable. I'm gonna keep testing, and dripping kalk. Right now i'm working on an aquaponics setup. (pretty cool stuff). but here are some pictures of the dead chromis, if it helps for a reason why they died.

I now have a diamond goby, and a torch coral. I also have a HUGE hair algae bloom. I'm gonna have to start using RODI. The tank is pretty hairy. Pics to come

Well, this tank has been taken down, and I set up a 90 in its place. I have also redone the aquascaping, and have 2 clowns, three chromis, the diamond goby, An open brain, the torch, and a condy anemone. All is going well, but i'm having a massive calerpa outbreak. So i need to find something that will eat it. The green hair algae is mostly gone, and i'm almost done with these red tufts of algae that are almost velvety. they form little balls in what seems like low flow areas. I pulled at least a quart ziplock bag from just my fuge and a ton from my display. The algae is clearing up, and the tank is doing well. I have big plans for everyhting though.

I need to redo the sump, build a hood, build a stand, and a few more things here and there. I'll soon make a Seans 90 gallon reef thread. Thanks for the interest though.

I have been waiting so I don't start a thread then take a year to finish. I've been designing alot things so keep an eye open.

Wow.. Great thread. You have to be the best at using SKetchup that I have ever seen. That program boggles my mind. I love your tank and designs..

About your sump... How does water enter your bubble tower. It looks like its closed off on all sides.

The bottom is open. I just glued a piece like a bubble trap, so theres a two inch gap at the bottom. Maybe i'll post a few teaser pictures later. Thanks for the support guys. I'm probably gonna bring a baggie of caulerpa and see if any fish eats it at the store.
