If that's what it takes!

Tom,

Just to clarify your statement a bit.

It seems that there is tradition where, unless it's to annonuce official club business, executive officers no longer seem to post here once they are elected to office.

Are you saying that if you were to be elected that you would be willing to discuss and not just announce club business in this forum?

I may be wrong with this but I don't think the current officers were extremely active on RC before they were elected and also to repeat what Jim Craig said SEASL is a face to face club. Now with that being said I feel that RC is a great way to discuss SEASL in an informal atmosphere. I will always be available to discuss anything here on RC, though to make any changes it does require 2 Officers and/or an actual member vote. If I get elected I will not disappear from this forum. I do know how hard Becky, Brad and Greg work behind the scenes to keep this club moving in a good direction and see some good changes coming up with the club with the memberships help. I would like to be a part of that with Becky and Brad in a bigger capacity than as Secretary. My $.02

Yes, this is tongue in cheek, but understand from a personal point of view, if SEASL will support this person, I cannot support SEASL.

Unfortunately, there will be people would have an issue with just about any LFS in the St. Louis area. At one time Marine Solutions was the devil, CPE sold all corals with bugs and most others had dead fish in their main tanks.

I don't know how many people had "real" issues with Nic, but at the November 13th, 2004 SEASL meeting, Nic gave some of the best demonstrations I have ever seen. Top-notch. Too bad it takes a lot of 'at-a-boys' to make up for 'aww-shoots', cause he was very helpful. Check out the Archive Page on SEASL.org.

I'm sure that everyone was raising their hands when the officers were looking for someone to host the upcoming meeting - right? Everyone was volunteering their homes and talents to give a demonstration - right? I don't know, but it doesn't seem that way.

This club is unappealing to newcomers when comments from SEASL members are hurtful and unnecessary.

If you really disagree that badly, then you may want to consider starting a new club. There's nothing in the By-Laws that states that you can't...

And I hope to never, ever hear someone question Jim Craig's ability to give some commentary. He has put in more time than anyone that I know of for SEASL. He is responsible for a large part of its growth and he is not going to let anyone tear down what he worked so hard for.

"Aww-Shoots."

That made me laugh so hard.

Aww shoots, Im out $300.
Aww shoots, everyone else is too.
Aww shoots, I don't know why, I never got a reason.
Aww shoots, it's been a year since I lost my money.
Aww shoots, Ebay and Palpal kicked him off but let him back on under different names and IP addresses.

Is "Aww-shoots" your out look on that situation ?
If it is, a new club is definatly in order.

Anyone can make a frag !
No one person can do it better than anyone else.
But.... it takes a real piece of work to sell them and not ship them.

My point exactly, I didn't know how many people had issues and then you clearly defined it for me - EVERYONE!

Well said.

Does it really matter how many? The fact that there is one is less than acceptable.

Would it mean nothing to you to lose money to someone?

Things can get heated when people quash the truth or down play a situation. It happened and it's not 100% resolved.

I have lost money - a couple hundred bucks. I can't remember her name now, but she was going to open a store in St. Louis, etc... I'm sure that Kurt (Arsenal11) can help me out. It sucks. I made an error in judgement and it cost me... my mistake. However, I didn't ask SEASL to support me in discriminating against her.

I'm sorry that anybody lost money, but I will not stop supporting SEASL or use their forum for my personal issues, which is exactly what is happening.

SEASL is not a club that not monitors business practices. SEASL is a club that recognizes the expertise of individuals and uses that for instruction.

Or when they escalate something out of proportion.

Are you saying that if the club were aware of an unscrupulous vendor that they would NOT warn the members?

Correct - It is not their responsibility. Why would they want to get tangled in such matters? The club is about sharing knowledge, not creating bias.

"It has always been SEASLââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s policy to remain neutral as an organization with respect to where and from whom members purchase products and livestock. Individual members are free to personally express their own personal opinion of a particular retailer, wholesaler, or manufacturer. Such opinions are the personal opinion of the individual and not that of SEASL, and as an organization SEASL will remain neutral on such matters. "

Okay,

Get miffed about people trading frags at the 50/50 because of a rule that was never mentioned out loud,
BUT let someone rip perfect strangers off and keep it all light and breezy.

What you said Darrin is wrong, I am sorry.
Sharing the information about how someone ACTUALLY RAN THEIR BUISINESS FOR OVER A YEAR, is the most vital piece of information.

P.S. I never learned any reef keeping information at these events, everyone is too busy selling corals. If that is the SEASL mission statement " To Share Knowlege", it is failing to the 10th degree.

When did this site turn into a middle school name calling forum. I thought we were all supposed to be adults here (except you trottie) I usually dont get involved in crap like this but this is getting really old. I have not been to a meeting in a while because of my crazy work schedule but I guess I am not missing much. When I joined SEASL it was to meet other people who are interested in the hobby and learn. Maybe even help some other people with less experience than me out. It seems like everyone on this page is not happy unless there is some drama going on. I always thought this would be a good place to trade frags or even just GIVE them away to people who wanted them when I did not. I am not attacking anyone specifically and have made some friends in this club so it has not been all bad but you all have to learn to get along a little better than this. Questioning what the officers do is just pathetic. They have lives and this is not even close to a paying gig. When they have time to address the issue they will, if they dont then bite the bullet and drive to the meeting, make your nomination and then leave. I am sure Nic with get the point that you dont want to support him. That was my 2 cents. Take your shots now if you want.

Did you tell anyone of your experience with the person who took your money?

If I did it was through a Private Message to Kurt (Arsenal11) who had some experience with this individual.

The RC SEASL forums are not for discussing Vendor Experiences - the RC "Vendor Experiences" forum is. Unfortunately, she was not a vendor at the time, so my topic was irrelevant and had absolutely nothing to do with SEASL.

I give up, your right it is their club and nothing can be done about it. Everything is soooo clear right now with what has been said. I have enjoyed some but the newbiness is good for one year around. More participation comes with better interaction. It is sad to see it this way, there is a reason for loss of interest and the summer off. all I have to say is good luck with that. Sorry this doesn't make sense to all but those who know I will try my best.

What is your opinion on the matter BKH24 ?
"Questioning what the officers do is just pathetic. They have lives and this is not even close to a paying gig. If that is it, thank you, everyone reading understood and considered it and formed their own opinion, which is good.

Now calling this a middle school name calling forum, is where things turn for the worse, it's only as bad as the name you give it. This is not "Crap", this is democracy. You can't fart in a room, then say how bad it stinks and then walk out and lock the door behind you to trap the other people, if you shut a door, please open a window. (To the discussion)

Everyone gets the chance to talk, what they choose to say is theirs.
