Sebae anemone

I picked up a 4" pretty white sebae today, for $15. I have it inside of my 12g nano-cube that has 48W of PC lighting. After about an hour of being added it seems to have already attached its self and moved right to the top of the tank.

The mouth is also wide open. I am pretty sure that that this is referred to as "gaping" so I decided to feed her the head of a silverside as she attached, and seems to have eaten it. But I can say that it is a VERY sticky anemone compared to my BTA.

Here are my questions:
>1. How do I get rid of the gaping mouth?
>2. How do I get it out of its bleaching state?
>3. Would a perc clownfish host in it?
>4. Will it be okay untill monday when I get my 150W MH?

Well, here's my interpretation.

You bought a very unhealthy anemone, put in in a tank that is entirely too small under very unpowered lights.

The lights will be taken care of when you get your MH, but my sebae outgrew my 40 cube, so i think this won't be long lived in your 12, sorry to say.

But how often do you feed yours? I have a teacher/friend of mine that has not "target" fed his anemone once in 5 years and it is one of the healthiest I have ever seen...
I know that the more you feed the more they grow. So, how long did it take for it to out grow your 40 cube?

Everyone else:
Now, would the fact that it came out of a tank that had flat incandescent lights on it, to a tank (she is sitting about 3" below the surface) that has 48W of PC lighting mean that she is in a much better environment than she was in?

A crucial question that wasn't answered, "Am I on the right track towards a speedy recovery"? My only objective at this point it to get it back to where it should be (health wise). Is there anyone out there who can offer first hand experience in this kind of situation?

I cannot really contribute a lot to this as far as advice is concerned, but I can tell you about my experience. My Fiance' purchased one to put in her 20 long under two 65 watt PCs. It was snow white with purple tips, and after around three weeks, we decided it just was not going to thrive in this environment. To make a long story short, we moved it to my 60 cube under halide and within two weeks - no supplemental feeding other than oyster eggs added 3-4 times a week to the tank - it had regained the "dirty", but healthy look, and three months later it is doing superb. It has grown quite a bit, and I have yet to target feed it. The A. ocellaris clown's, however, showed no interest in it whatsoever until around one week ago, and now they won't leave it unless its feeding time.

i have a 20g Long and have had no problems with the seabae. As said above you will be fine with the MH upgrade. However, I do know the seabae can grow reather large in a short period of time, so getting a bigger tank for you and I will probably be in the near future. It sounds like you are on your way to getting it back to health. I find that my seabae likes mysis shrimp. I feed about once a week. As far as percs go im not sure, i do know that a seabae clown will host in one....anyway your on the right path, just keep up with your water changes and continue to watch her.
