Sebae Anemone

Bought a sebae anemone about three weeks ago. I was hoping my two common clown fish would use it as a host. The anemone has still not found a place to call home, it has stayed in one corner of the tank most of the time. It also spends alot of time face down in the sand. I tried to place it in a couple of different place with no luck. The clown fish have ignored it completely. Water parimeters are good with nitrates a bit high at 20 ppm. I have plenty of lighting with 2 175watt metal halides and 260 watts of compacts on a 90 gallon mixed reef tank.. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

What color was it when you bought it? If it was white, or very light in color, you have a long road ahead of you. But, it being face down in the said a lot of the time isn't a good sign at all.

I recently added a sebae to my system as well, the anemone took about three weeks to attach and find a spot he liked, I would say dont mess with him, he wont go to the place where you want him to go, all you can do is watch. Although keep an eye on the overall health of your anemone, sebae's do not ship well and hopefully you did buy a healty anemone he should be brownish creamy color with purpleish tips on the ends of his tentacles. Good luck, also I would try and get your trates down as well, trates do not go well with anemone.

Thanks for the input. He is all white with a pink base. He is not face down all the time just sometimes the rest of the time he is inflated and looks heathy. I am going to get some cheato for my fuge and do a water change this weekend to try and drop the trates.

It being all white is not a good sign, it is bleached, they should not be all white. Unfortunately, it is all too common to see white Sebaes availible, but their track record is awful.
