sebae question

We purchased a sebae anenome almost a week ago, and the female Clarkii hosted right in it. Here is the problem, he will do fine in the sand the first half the day, and then his tenticles will start to deflat, by an hour or so after lights go out his tenticles will be completely deflated. We then moved him into a frag container (frags removed) up near the top of the tank and he's fine. Why is he deflating?
It is in a 24 gal. aquapod, with 70W 14K, and it has good flow. Water is fine was tested and levels were all what they should be.

I have an sebae and he does like sand- they are considered sand anemones. They prefer metal halides, or if you only have pcs- you will have to move him high up( difficult since he likes sand) and keep him well fed.

well for the past couple days its been in a frag container and is doing fine there. I think that we are going to try to put him on the rock and see if he will stay there. We have MH lighting but its either not enough for him or he just doesn't like our sand. We have it in a 24 gallon aquapod with 75W 14K HQI lighting. If this won't work for him I am going to have to trade it for a different species. Sad part is that my female clarkii took to it within 10 minutes of it being in.

what kind lighting was it under when you bought it ?
it could be that it is just trying to adjust to your lighting .

I'd have to disagree. Both my H. crispas attach their feet to the rocks in my tank. They have buried their feet under the sand sometimes, but it is always attached to a rock.

I would also say your lighting isn't enough. They need 4-5 watts/gallon of PC, T-5, or VHO fluorescents or MH. I have mine under PC's and they have lived for 4 years so far on the bottom of a 55g tank.

Also a sebae is a bad choice for a 24 gallon because they are large anemones and will grow if healthy to 1-2 feet.

The tenticles do deflate during the night a little, but should not completely deflate. Is its foot attached to anything?
