Second Annual Coast to Coast Sand Trade!

hey just wondering when mines coming !! goin on vacation next week leaving the 6th and wont be back till the next friday just thought i would let you know thanks again

Sorry folks - this weeks shipment was delayed too... Geez.... The plan was to go home early yesterday and get it out with the Tuesday mail.. However, a large restructuring at my work meant my boss from NYC was in town.... (can't leave at 3 when the boss is in town.)

Beanpole - I'll move you to the 13th.

Again - sorry folks. Busy time of year here at work.

No problem James. I can relate-I like my "summer hours" (6-2) when the kids are out of school- but that means nothing when the big dogs show up! Back to normal hours those days.

Waiting patiently.... :)

June 5/6th list of LAST trade shipments.

Next week, I clear out the tubs (leaving just enough for next years)

Tasher80
Magnum300
TammyM1961
Moujon
CrazyTang900
Dinoman
scbauer
Ram Puppy
Cclawman

You'll be getting them Wed/Thurs/Friday.

Beanpole209 - you're officially the last of the traders - June 13th is your date.

And so concludes the 2nd Annual Sand Trade. I hope those of you that participated feel that you helped the overall diversity of your sandbed and urge all of you to grab a microscope and poke around in your sand in a few months. I've had a peek in the stew - and it's pretty neat.

Sandbed users unite!!

Enjoy :)

I want in on next years trade!

Also for packaging, maybe everyone can pick up a CHEAP thermos at walmart, the type that everyone uses to ship zoo's and send it in that way. You could use their same container to ship back.

Just a thought after reading.

The thermos is an okay idea. I have lots of 2 cup bags now though. Next year's trade is gonna be simplified to 1 serving. All this 2 cups/4 cups stuff is too much hassle.

Sign up on the little red house for the next trade. The hope is to have 300 people. I'll probably be getting a 300 gallon tub for the next one - this 100 gallon tub won't cut it.

:D Can't wait! I have a bare tank all setup for it, nothing higher than a bacteria in there. I *might* be adding a piece of LR today but it will be fun to see what pops out of this sand! I'm almost certain I'll be in on the next.

Good deal. Let me know how it works out. And keep an eye out for white worms. They look like worm tubes or snail poop - but they're not :)

So what's the status on purchases? I haven't heard word one on that recently, despite having signed up here and on reefmonkey.

Good to hear guys! Glad you're happy. Be sure and get in on the next one. Theres still quite a bit leftover that's stewing for next year's trade.

Keep your local trades going in the meantime.
:)

forgot to post that I did recieve my sand. The post office had to put it in a plastic bag because it was soaked but still got it thanks.

Anyone have any updates on their sand? I found the biggest cirratulid worm i've EVER seen in my life in the sand today. It was all bunched up and about the size of a golfball. Crazy..

Interested to hear what you guys have found.

Starting to see some worms and movement in the sand! As my sand bed was completely berift of life until the purchased sand came in, I definitly know where it came from!

Its worm heaven in my sand. I see worm tracks against the glass of my fuge. In my display I'm also seeing TONS of those clear worms that wave about in the current then when they catch something pull it back into their hole. I'm not sure if they are both the same kind of worm as I can only see the worm burrows in my fuge. (very limited view into fuge) Also seeing an increase of copes, the ones that cling to things.......benthic?
