What can I say. Extreamly happy. Took a while to aquascape just due to the volume of rock and amount of growth. Thanks for the flat pieces I asked for. They worked out great. Will post pictures tommorow when the tank becomes crystal clear. Lots of caves, etc. Fish should love it.

Everyone made it. You also sent what has to be the largest Cucumber I have seen. Extended he must be almost a 10" long. He has already explored the entire tank.

Well off to look at levels and empty that skimmer cup. The Euroreef is working overtime. Lots of wet skimmate. Tank is looking pretty good after 1 hour. I really stirred it up with the arranging. Hopefully a smooth cycle.

Pictures tommorow. Stay tuned.

Richard and all the folks at TBS. It has been a pleasure. Great product, great service.

Do you sell corals? or can you reconmend a online distributor?
:)

Hey Snooter1...can you post your water parameters in the morning? My 2nd went in last night, and I have a bit of a nitrite spike that makes me nervous...with the anemones, inverts, and all. Just curious how yours will look in the AM.

My morning readings were

ammonia 0.4
nitrites 0.4
nitrates 10

Current:

ammonia 0.25
nitrites 0.3
nitrates 10

Here they are

AM .25 (normally 0)
Nitrates 20 (Typical to run between 10 and 20)
Nitrites .25 (usually 0)
PH 8.0 (lower than normal 8.2: it is the morning usually check at night)

So far a mild spike. All is well..........I hope.

Did find one of my new shimp in the sump this morning. That had to hurt. Running about 550 Gph down that tube; 6ft drop. Seemed OK when I put him back in. Hopefully he will learn.

Thanks again. I am cycling again but AM has not gone over .5 yet. How long can the inverts last in the bad water. I am sure they are stressed.

I was wondering the same thing in another thread. I think I've lost all my shrimp...one was DOA, two went into the tank alive. I found one dead the next morning, and I've not seen the other one since. I gotta believe he's gone as well, somewhere in the rocks. I'd think if he were alive, I'd see him once in awhile. Of course, that's not to say that "bad water" killed them.

All my other critters seem OK. The three serpent stars don't move around very much...but I don't really know what their habits are supposed to be. During the day, they generally stay pretty close to the same spot. Maybe they're stressed, or maybe that's their nature, I dunno.

Keep posting your water parameters. We're within a day of each other, so I like to compare.

Easter morning: Things looking dicy....not as good as I had hoped

AM .5 (normally 0)
Nitrates 20 (Typical to run between 10 and 20)
Nitrites .5 (usually 0)
PH 8.2 (Started my Kalc reactor up. It got as low as 7.8. Will keep watching)

Spike is very similiar to what I has had the first time, except now I am trying to keep animals alive. My anenome has decided to move and is now behind my rocks. I am going to leave him be, as to not stress him/her any further. Hopefully tonight I will see some movement in the right direction.

Worried but still hopeful.

Going to hold to Richards advice, if AM is not 1 leave it alone.

Thanks for the report, snooter1. Your readings today are pretty close to what mine were yesterday morning. Keep an eye on the anemone...mine moved several times and started to look bad yesterday morning. By afternoon, he looked terrible, his mouth hanging open, then it seemed as if he sorta turned inside out. By evening he was obviously gone, and I removed him. I tried to aclimate him over a couple of hours per instructions, but I suppose the stress of shipping and the cycling tank may have been too much.

The other anemone, a rock flower anemone I'm told, seems OK. He has stayed where I originally placed him, and looks good. I fed him a very small piece of raw shrimp last night, and he ate it. I'll cross my fingers for this guy.

My water on morning 3 shows:

ammonia - 0.25
nitrites - 0.2
nitrates - 10

So it's down from yesterday. Morning 2 was definitely the worst for me, and I think that's where you're at now. Hopefully you'll turn the corner today.

You are looking good, don't mess with it.....there is always ammonia and nitrates.......and yours are in the low range.....especially after just adding all that rock, keep your hands in your pockets until the ammonia goes over 1ppm, it most likely won't.....

On our aquaculture site the nitrates are 35-40 ppm all the time.....and also ammonia.....but it is the open ocean and can handle real high levels......but you have a closed system, so try to keep the nitrates und .25ppm.....ammonia under 1ppm is fine....

How did that rock cover the overflow?
Thanks

I was just wondering how your cycle is going? I got my 2nd half on the 10th. Ammonia reached 1 on Tuesday (13th) I changed water and now the ammonia has been slowly dropping since then. Just curious how yours is doing since you got yours about the same time...

I've had a new anemone for 2 weeks now. He just started to wander the tank after a week and he has gone from really shrunken up inside himself to fully unfurled, fat and happy. Since he started to wander, though, he's looking a little more peaked. I wonder if he's looking for more light?? The PC's go on at 4:30 and off at 10:30 p.m. (trying to rid myself of cyano)

Cycle is nearing completion. Tonights readings

AM 0
Nitrate 30
Nitrite .25
ph 8.0

Should be done by the weekend. Same as last time. One week. I will do a water change over the weekend to mark the occasion and get on a once a month routine of 10-20% change.

Having trouble finding my shimp but other than that everything is doing great. TBS = instant reef.

Need get thois cucumbers a map as well. They love the front glass. Not a pretty creature.

Hi Snooter1. I'm at Ammonia 0, Nitrites .2, and Nitrates 10. I think I'm one day ahead of you. How long has it been since you've seen your shrimp? I found one of mine dead the first morning, and I haven't seen the other one since...6 days now. I'm assuming he's gone as well. Just curious how long yours have been missing.

Saw one last night. The day after I got the second shipment, one of the shimp took the plung down the return and into the sump. He lived and returned to the main tank, but I can only find one now. They usually hung out together. I guess one took a dirt nap.

very little Nitrates left. I did a 15% water change last night to bring down my Nitrates that where aproaching 40. I should be good this week. Want to add a fish, debating on the whole quartine thing; at least for the first one.

Would love to get my anenome happy. He moves everyday. Had to recue him from behind a wall of rock. Thought he was gone but he has recovered well. Very picky on location though. He does eat when fed. How is your doing?

The Condy is gone. He moved several times over the first couple of days, then he sort of inverted, his mouth hanging out. Awhile later, he was clearly dead. I guess the combination of shipping stress and a cycling tank was simply too much. I'm told if they move around like yours is, it is a sign that they're not happy. I think I also read that hiding in or behind a rock is a sign of stress, though I could be wrong on that point.

I also received a rock flower anemone, and that one is doing well from what I can see. I'm anxious to add fish as well...just waiting for the nitrites to zero out. Ammonia has been 0 for a week, and Nitrates are OK at 10. I plan to start with a pair of clowns, as my kids will like them and they are supposed to be fairly hardy fish.

Was thinking along the same line but wanted to go with Maroon clowns (mated pair) if I could find them. Not Nemo like but a nice clown. Hope they host with the anenome.
