I have been using recipe 2 Randy Holmes and have found transparent floating Fuzzy small (1-2 cm) pieces in solution of calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate (in diferent times). i keep those solutions in a 1 Gallon transparent bottle. what is that ? What should i do in that situation ?
thanks Very much

Please annyone would like to share a comment. What would you do in my situation ? Just reject and redo the solution if it appears with that Fuzzy transparent small pieces ? To the experts, what can it be ?

Thanks again.:)

I have used 250 gr chloride dihidrate and 297 gr baking soda in enough water (from reverse osmosis) to Make 1 gallon of volume as you recommend. I must say Kh ca and mg Has been quite stable. As i saíd i use transparent plastic bottles to keep the solutions. Inside the bottle there is also a plastic tube (connected to a pump), an acrylic suport ( to reassure tube doesnt move) and plastic strips (connect tube to support).

How fequent is my finding ? Could it be Related to plastic Inside bottle ??
What should i do ?

Thanks:thumbsup:

What brands or grades of chemicals?

Some rust colored sediment in the calcium product is fairly common, but floating stuff is not.

It sounds like bacteria, but that should be able to grow in these very salty solutions.

I do not use any brand, i use chemicals bought at pharmacy. I will try to take some photos of solutions and give further details of chemicals used later. I am currently working. Thanks for your attention.

Please find pictures attached and tell me whats your opinion.

Fig 1 (sodium bicarbonate solution): please see the white like grain precipitate

Fig 2 and 3 (chloride dihidrate calcium solution): please see the white fuzzy stuff, mostly precipitated but others smaller floating

Fig 4 (the aspect of tube which is plonged in calcium solution- looks browny to me)

Thanks for all the help provided.

I'd use them as is. I wouldn't "try" to get the solids to go along into the tank, but I wouldn't overly worry if some do. There are plenty of insoluble things that might be present, such as calcium carbonate, and most are not a concern. :)
