I have a sedra 3500 on my tank right now as my return pump and I'm pretty sure its not turning my tank over enough, it seems to be going slower. What is a the one pump closest to a rio pump? a 10 HF? or a 14 HF?

if you cant achieve turn over with return pump, only alternative is a closed loop, or powerheads to avoid microbubbles going into the main display.

Sump you want 3x-5x turn over. If you want sps, you need 45x+ turnover in main display.

Maybe I got the term wrong, but if I have like a 50g DT and a 10g sump, then I would want a pump that is 350gph?

If I have a pump that does 350gph, would that be a 7x turnover or a 35x turnover. Is turnover how much the sump is turned over or the DT is turned over?

50gal+10gal=60gal 350/60= 5.8 times turnover. Sound like a good amount for the sump turnover. But, you might need more movement in you tank.

Hey thanks paul, I figured it was something around that. Yeah, I have a rio 800 powerhead as well on the other side of the tank, so there is enough flow in the tank. I have an external overflow and so its kind of all screwy. God, I cant to upgrade my tank.
