Van, did you have to beef up the motor? the seio looks much larger than the previous ones, and move a lot more water witht eh back and forth, let alone the pump
Thanks all... the SEIO Rat is now in water testing as of today...
I've put it next to the Tunze Rat at one of my fav LFS's... let it run I say and I'll make sure there are no bugs when it goes out for release...
To be honest it's the same motor on the 1" Rat, 1.5" Super-Rat, Tunze Rat and the SEIO Rat... it seems to be working a lot harder on the Tunze Rat (2245 gph) compared to the SEIO Rat (1500 gph)... but then again I'm waiting for the SEIO 2600...
That should be an interesting contest... it'll be in Tunze flow territory.. Anybody at TAAM want to send me a pump to accelerate this project???
Will post when I have some further info... for now... wet-testing is on and underway...
Yep ... it's drawing air every once in a while... my Tunze 6080 doesn't do it due to the blank section in the grill at the top of the pump intake grill...
The T-Rat is at the same depth... 4.5" from tank rim to centerline of pump exhaust... doesn't draw any air though...
Don't kid yourself the folks at Tunze figured this out a while ago... too bad those at TAAM didn't pay it any attention...
Although I read about the problem here on RC I wanted to see for myself... now I'll take a thin strip of pvc and form it with a hair-dryer to match the SEIO intake grill contour... after I bond it in place and get back to you with the results...
I'll try and get some water pics this week at the LFS..
