seio's ROCK

I was waiting for someone to chime in with that comment:D and I agree, they are, but so are mercedez and bmws.

and both Merc and BMW's break down all the time!

Even seios are overpriced. If only aquarium systems would modify their maxijet line a little bit, they'd sell a boatload of them even at the list price. How hard can it be for a large company to do that? I wonder if tunze paid other companies not to come out with something so they can rip us off? I can understand limited markets, but this is flat out ripoff.

You sure do whine a lot about cost, maybe you should find a new hobby

Tunze are way too expensive for what they are....I would never pay that much money for a powerhead

I love my seio's they work just fine and are priced as they should be

I think most people that say that have never owned one. I've owned many seios and now I've owned Tunzes and I can honestly say its definitely worth it. What's worth it for some may not be worth it for others.

i thought the same thing. i was a seio man until i was able to get a good deal on a tunze 6100... i will never have another seio in my tank. they dont even come close to a tunze

I think this works just as well as a tunze. First use some type of powerhead to move the water. Then use a small stick or even a spatula to swirl the water for the added tunze wavebox effect! Much cheaper than a tunze setup IMO. hahahahahahahha. j/k

I'm using a Tunze and two MJ mods in my tank. I've also used a couple diff Seio's. The Seio's aren't too bad unless your using a Ca reactor along with kalk, If you are then their worthless.

IMO, The Tunze's aren't all that great. I like em and I'll probably add another but the size is way too much. I haven't tried the MJ mods on a wave strip yet and I kind of doubt they'll work as good as the standard MJ's do but these put out a ton a flow for a small size.

My thought is that if it works for you then that's the right pump. If you have to complain about the cost then you need to get a better job or do as I did and marry somebody with a better job.....or take up another hobby.

If that's how you want to dump your money, good for you. I would rather spend my money elsewhere. Even if I was rich I wouldn't buy a tunze. I would rather just get a bigger tank. But that's just me. I'm not telling you what to get. Sometimes I do ask myself whether this hobby is even worth it with the cost and time. I can see why there's a lot of people that aren't into it.

hehe, guys it was just a friendly debate. No need to put people down. everyone spends their money differently.

ask myself that a lot.................I've been doing this longer then most memebers here have been alive. I recall just a few years ago I could get 3 nice sps corals, I mean large corals for 75.00. The demand, mostly due to newbies who don't have a clue have pretty much kilt that.

There's no doubt the cost of things are high and I agree 1000% about the cost of the Tunze's, some of the higher grade skimmers and items like that....I truly believe that you get what you pay for but not with these high priced items...For me its more of "new toy" thing. I've always been into equipment and love to try out new stuff. I'm lucky enough to know a well known equipment maker so I get pretty sweet deals on some items.

I didin't mean to offend and probably should have worded it a bit different. Its just that this isn't the first time I've read a post from your regarding the cost of items...

Yinger, have a coke and a smile.

I always see people replying just like this but they never say why a tunze is worth 10 X's the price a seio is...Please let me know what makes them 10 times better

i never said they were 10x better but they are better and heres why imo. i can take 4 seio 820s out of my tank and replace them w/ 1 tunze 6100 and have more flow, my 1 6100 was less wattage them my 4 seio 820s, ive never put seios on a wave timer but when i turn them on and off for maintence they are super noisy and i wouldnt want that happening every 15 second, my 6100 was on a wavetimer and was absolutly silent and the pulsing was incredible, my sps had better P.E. with the increased flow, and my fish were more active swimming in the current. well worth it to me. want me to go on?

i think a bmw or mercedes is more comparable to a seio, the tunze would be more like a bentley, or lambo

reg powerhead is a car under 25k
seio is a car under 50k
tunze is more like a car over 100k

Hmm, let's see, Taiwan crap or German quality. I think the choice is clear. You get what you pay for and Tunze is worth every penny.

I just bought two new Tunzes. MY other two options were a closed loop on a Mag12 I already have and Seios. I decided that with my new tank, it would be toomuch work to plumb it corerctly for the closed loop. I had a Rio2500 from my EV-120 (stock pump for it at the time). I HATED That thing, it would never restart anytime I pulled the plug or power went off. i would have to dig my finger in the prop, or take the top off and mess with it. What a serious PITA!! With much reading here on the forums, I read that a lot of people reported the same problems with the Seios. Personally, you couldnt pay me to deal with a pump that has that problem. That's why I kicked up double the money for the Tunzes...not 10x as much, but double. So far I really like them, and I feel confident in the product, something I cant say about the Seios based on my previous experience with the Rio product line. Oh yeah, Tunzes are half as tall as the Seios...compactness, another reason to buy.
