Sentinel heartworm meds

Ive recently discovered I got red bugs in my DT😞. I have contacted numerous vets in the area and they either do not carry setinel, or they do not want to write the prescription without being able to "examine the patient". Since I cannot carry my 125 gallon fish tank to the vets I am basically out of options. Ive come across a few threads on here where people have ordered it from canada without an RX. I have only been able to find one online store to order without RX but they had some very negative reviews. I was hoping maybe someone here who had experience ordering from a reputable source could point me in the right direction! Thanks in advance guys

if u can remove the coral u can do a bayer dip and that will get rid of them

I dip all my sps in bayer when I get them so I dunno how It missed these bugs. But some of the colonies are large and fully encrusted on the rocks so I would be taking a big risk to break them off and take em outta the tank

I printed out information from the forum about treating the tank with sentinel for my red bug problem have you tried that and going there face to face that's the only way I could get it done. I tried the phone calls but they would all hang up like I was prank calling good luck though I hope you are able to find some.

I ordered it last night. It is coming from Australia to Arizona via USPS so
who knows how long it will take. I will post back when it arrives.
I saw a couple sites that make you buy a box for like $100. I was able to
buy 3 large dog pills for $37 after shipping.

Bayer won't likely kill the eggs.

Do you have a dog? If not, find somebody with a dog and have them get you the Sentinel... it should be around $50 for 6 pills. It works just like interceptor. Our current vet does not carry Sentinel, so I went to our old vet and they sold it to me. Going in person helps a lot, IMO.

I used Interceptor Spectrum from www.petsofoz.com got it within 6 days and works perfectly.

Thats the website I was going to order from but there was a bad review from someone saying its a scam site, that they ordered all this product and never recieved it. Im relieved to hear you had a goid experience!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I havent gone into the vets and spoke face to face. I had been sending emails with literature on using setinel for red bugs and then calling to discuss the situation. Most places at least took me serious and gave me the time of day. Peehaps I will print some info out and physically take it to the vet today!

It is harder to say no to a nice person face to face. Everybody has a pair over the phone and on the internet. Some people have a friend with a dog get it for them.

Not all vets carry it IME.

by the time it takes you do all the research for vets and face to face you could have the Interceptor Spectrum ordered and shipped. Get it on line its faster and easier. i only hear that Interceptor Spectrum works and not Sentinel they have different ingredients

It needs to have Milbemycin Oxime and no other ingredients that are dangerous. Both Sentinel and Interceptor fit this.

After a little bit of research looks like milbemycin oxime is the main ingredent of all three. Interceptor Spectrum contain the added ingredient praziquantel which is used in the aquarium to combat parasites flukes, tapeworm, flatworm, and internal parasites. Usually used when you quarrantine.
so i guess you can use any of them as milbemycin oxime seems to be the one that kills the red bugs.
Hopefully someone who knows more can chime in and school us in the details of the ingredients.
I used the Interceptor Spectrum because it is the same company that made the original Interceptor (Novartis)

I know there have been several people on this forum who have had success using megapetsupplies.com. I also had success with it. At first, I was very nervous because after placing my order, I never received a confirmation email, and there is no way to contact them because their contact form doesn't work and there is no phone number listed. I thought I had just been scammed out of $60, but sure enough, a week after ordering, it came in the mail and worked like a charm on my tank.

So I'm not trying to contribute to the continuation of a rumor but I heard that the amount of prazi that spectrum contains is like 10x the amount of what a regular dose of prazi calls for for fish.

Is this true? ( please only qualified people Answer this question)

Im not qualified to answer this question to any extent, however after finding red bugs in my tank recently, I have done a TON of research. Ive come across a ton of threads of people who have used both interceptor spectrum and sentinel spectrum(these two versions of the medication contain the praziquentenal) and have had good success. In fact I have yet to come across one that someone had a negative reaction from the prazi. If your worried about the prazi, you could always just use the original sentinel which contains no prazi.
