September meeting?

Greetings all. I hope you're having a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Do we want to have a meeting this month? There are three options before us as I see it. Feel free to chime in if you have other ideas.

Option 1: No meeting. If we can't get, say, at least 10 raffle ticket buying members to agree to meet, the raffle doesn't work and it's an effort to organize for only a few people.

Option 2: We meet at the Union Hotel in SR at 7pm on the 2nd Friday of the month (that would be next Friday the 10th).

Option 3: We meet somewhere else and / or at another time.

I cannot attend option 2. My kids and I have been invited to Clear Lake for next weekend and I won't be around. I wasn't going to say no to a fabulous family opportunity because the reef club might meet. I'm quite ok with y'all meeting without me. Someone would just have to pick up frags and such from me earlier on Friday.

What would you like to do?

I agree with you're logic. We need to have enough people to make it worth meeting. I would attend,but I think we need to get as you mentioned 10 members commiting to meet.

I reccomend we ask people to confirm their attendance on RC so as to determine if there will be a meeting.

Why don't we just meet one Sunday, go wine tasting and a picnic so we can bring our wife, no raffle, and nothing to worry about. Do something different for a change lol

I can only make weeknight meetings in September (I'm either out of town or my wife is working all of the Fri-Sun stretches in September).

However, I would love to meet in October if the stars align.

With regards to "why" we meet, I don't think we always need to do a raffle for it to feel like a success. The first several meetings were mostly about someone talking about a topic related to reef keeping, a frag swap, and socializing... not that a focus on socializing and a raffle aren't also sufficient reasons to meet (and I get it the raffle is a higher priority for a lot of people than the swap due to the quality of the booty that might be had).

I, too, am struggling to understand why my alk drops so quickly, so maybe we could try to get one of science guys to give a brief talk on alk. pH, etc. as a meeting topic?

Either way, looking forward to getting together with some fellow reefers for WHATEVER reason sometime soon!

I am out of town Friday through Sunday for a wedding up North. I like the idea Tom. Bring the ladies so there is someone to drive us around LOL!

Yeah I agree as I know lots of folks just coming back from vacation. I was waiting for a final schedule from work and it looks like I will be there if we have a meeting on the 10th.

I need to make another trip to the mountains to tempt some more trout and those work great on my three days off. This meeting it is only 2 so I am fine.

I am still trying to come to grips with buying a ticket and hoping for no montis as I love them. Someday the nudis will be gone!!

People are back from the holiday weekend and still minimal responses.

Ken I'm going to reccomend not meeting again this month. What a bummer we used to have 30 people at some of the meetings.
