Serious Ouch

This is why you don't glue plumbing in the overflow. 9" Spike managed to get into the 8" overflow. My tank is covered with screens so he must have jumped hard enough to lift the frame and into the overflow. I found him on Sunday AM. He is eating again and does not seem to have any infection.

Another never say never. I did not even think to look in the overflow until I heard splashing. I though no way, he can't be in there.

Yikes! I had my tangs get into a fight one day, the purple ended up have a gash on his side from the yellow tang. A couple of weeks later you couldn't tell the difference. As long as he's a healthy fish and keeps eating he should heal.

This is one of those times a couple cleaner shrimp really do help out. I've watched them tend to nastier wounds than this, and they appear to help keep the wound clear of too much bacteria and dead tissue.

Heck of an adventure the "little" fella took, though. Sheesh.

wow, that's unfortunate. I've had similar experiences, but never a fish so large making a jump. good luck with recovery!
