anyone have ideas on how many lbs of LR total i should have in my 58gal? i've never been good on guessing LR lbs.

Lunchbucket

Depending on the rock density I would say for light porous rock 60 pounds, more dense rock up to about 80 pounds

Hey lunch it is me "Hink" from TCMAS, I have had my tank up and running for approximately 5 months using all reefer rocks and 1 smaller piece of figi for seed. It will take awhile to seed but the life i am seeing right now is unbelievable. I have more pods than you can imagine and red and white fan worms popping up all over. It takes time but like the old saying goes, nothing good happens fast in this hobby.

Lunch it's up to you but I loved the fact that I left a gap between all 4 sides of the tank with the Starboard. It acts like a little gully for the detritus to settle in. Then suck it out.

IMO it's the SPS that make a reef tank truly amazing. I have nothing against those who stock only LPS (even I haven't dipped into SPS yet) but it's not only how amazing they look, but knowing all the work it takes to make them look amazing that gets me. If I see an awesome SPS tank, I have a lot of respect for the guy who owns it and keeps it looking that way, because i've heard countless stories of the struggles to keep them. Even with an LPS tank you can stand out as an awesome reefer, but IMO it's the successful SPS keepers who TRULY stand out as real reefers :D Hopefully I get to join the club someday
