Well, I am finally is able to talk about my little dissaster that happened 3 days ago. I was so upset that I just can't look at my tank the last several days.

One of the Radium bulb on the left side of my tank just poped and broke off, but the light was still working so with nothing to block the UV that was emited by the Halide bulb, my corals were blasted with UV for hours. Everything on that left side of the tank got bleached the tissues are peeling off just like your skin peeling off after a sun burn.

The corals that were lost or is on the verge of being lost are:

The red table, blue milli, green tnuis, yellow tort, teal blue stag that I got from Steve, lemonaide, oregone blue tort, LE insignis, LE blue tenuis, crayola table, nobilis with blue tips, one of my supperman monti, and a couple others.

Currently I am leaving that part of the tank without halide and only running actinics so it will have a chance to recover if anything is trying to come back. Tonite Steve will come by with a new Radium bulb so by this weekend the tank should have full lights on that side again. This is kind of an experiment. I will add extra carbons to combat any chemical leaching from the dead corals and will run a UV plus my ozone more hours to keep the water clean. Hope this will work.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Makes DE bulbs with the glass plate sound better and better. If that happened on my 60g I would be in real trouble since it is fairly newly stocked with loads of nice frags waiting for the move to the 250g.

Thanks guys, I have to finnd me a colony of something nice to ease the pain I wonder if James or someone can order colony of purple Lokani, abrotanoid (those beautiful thick branching with deep red color), or those beautiful deep RED milli ? I'll buy all three if the price is right :lol:

Every freaking corals on that side are DEAD am pretty bum right now so I won't be going to the meeting tonite.

I'm so sorry to here that Tom. I know the feeling of big disaster. It hurts for a long time. You have had some of those corals for alot of years. I will be coming over soon, mabe sunday??. I think i have something that could cheer you up just a little bit.:beer::beer:

Sorry to hear that Tom. When your frags that you gave me grow out more, I can get frags back to you. I know I have your red table, and I think some other from that trade we did or the DBTC. Just let me know.

Jeff, Thanks bud, you are a good friend. I'll be in hayward for my fav niece birthday on Sunday, she is turning 6, but I'll be home in the evening if you want to drop by. I know you and Mike have been busy with side jobs so when ever is cool.

Apon, thank you, no problem, I have the red table in my frag tank so its ok. 2/3 of my tank is still doing great so I'll just have to move things around to hide the dissaster area for now.

Guy, I am not sure, I think it could be a faulty bulb but I have some wrasses in my tank too so I can't rule out water splash. I am going to build a net for the top of my tank just incase.

Mike thanks bud, Yeah I lost the red milli too, the blue milli is hanging on, too bad I didn't frag some of it before this, I just couldn't get myself to cut anything off it because it was so beautifull.

Ponape torch is a gonner too, one of the bonsai is gone, crayola table is also gone ... today I will be cleaning up the war zone, I can't look at the dead corals anymore. Time to kick it up a notch and start over.

I'm not sure if its the one you're looking for, but the bird's nest I gave you before was from Atlantis Aquarium and they seem to be calling it "Tubs green w/ purple polyps birdnest" (near the lower left of the following page: http://www.atlantisaquarium.net/frags2.html)

My colony is doing great in my 12 gallon tank, and if its the one you're looking for, I could give another piece or two (there are also several frags already cut, but they are growing out in my Tank of Death, and thus are likely cursed...)
