Setosa placement?

Where in your tank is your setosa placed. How high or low under what lighting and what flow. I have mine up high under 400w radiums with medium to high flow. Doesn't appear to be to happy of late. Loosing it's bright orange color.......

I have mine about mid tank just off center of the 400w Radium [bulb sits about 10-12" off the water right above the choris wrasse in the pic]

400w. 32" deep tank. Keep mine at the bottom. Had it up in the middle portion and it didn't like it and lost color. At te bottom it's now growing and a bright orange

My setosa is placed on the bottom of my reef powered by 14k 400 watt halides. To be safe, you may want to place your coral near the bottom of your reef to start off, and slowly move it up to the lower mid range of your tank, depending on your light source, if necessary. Your setosa will let you know if it is happy...Like most montipora corals, they do not like too much intense light and tend to be most colorful in the bottom third of most reef tanks (ie, using 250 watt or above halide lights or equivalent light source).

Mine has been up top for a while now and it is changing from orange to a bluish color. Going to do some rearranging this weekend and move to the lower half of tank. Hoping it regains it's orange/red color.

I had mine near the top under a 250w radium and it started turning a bright pink. Moved it a bit towards the middle and its moving back to orange.

I have mine up top of my tank, but my lights aren't very strong - middle/bottom would probably be best under any other system.

As for form it takes, I've noticed that the lower flow side is really branchy, and the higher flow side encrusts more and is plating in growth form.

I have mine about half way up on a 24" deep tank, and I'm running 250w Radiums. It seems happy there and keeps it's bright orange color. I'm kind of glad mine never turned pink, because it would bother me, but my wife would love it and want me to leave it there.

1/3 of the way down in a 55g with 4 bulb t5 and even then it is paling just a bit. Great growth though considering my alk is always low. Low flow as well.

Med-Low light, Med-Low flow. Mine did fine halfway up, but now it's down low between 2 reflectors(lower light), and it is happy.
