I have an extra 10gal, live rock and some sand left over from a bigger setup. Is glass a huge no-no? should I just pick up a 12 acrylic or something? I've heard they'll go after a heater too? Help a nooob... Thanks in advance.

i got my self a small mantis i think he was a n.wenn or something like that and he was in my 10gal glass tank with a filter live sand and live rock and macro algae (had it growing righ up through the sand looked really cool) and that's all i did.

so long as you don't plan on putting a peacock mantis in there you should be fine. just stick to the smaller species of mantis

they dont grow very fast, but I would be a little wary about keeping a peacock in a glass 10... unless it is thick glass... however, I had mine in a 5 for a couple months when I first got mine, but it definatly needs a bigger home. Mine now resides in a 26 BF.

I use a wooden skewer, or a long plastic coated flexible metal twise tie (used to secure toys in packaging)

For my spearer I just drop a piece of a silver slide and he finds it, hes scared of the skewer for some reason...

Depends on what kind of mantis it is, if its a spearer its usually a fish diet like silverslides but they will also take krill ect. I even think mine spearer at one of the snails cause he had the shell but to snail.
