Setting up a REAL auto feeder system.

I feed frozen twice a day. Morning and evening. I want to add two or three feedings of pellets during the day while I'm at work. I've been shopping for auto feeders and feeding rings, but so far I don't like my options. I don't want to worry about batteries going dead, and I don't want a feeding ring that's held on with a suction cup that's going to fail. I need something reliable.

So....... What is everyone using for auto feedings? It would be nice to know what food you're using in the feeders as well.

Thanks for any help

Watching this one... I will be going on vacation and there is noone I can ask to look after the tank. Need a reliable feeder (well 3 of them for 3 tanks)

I got really busy at work and my schedule was even more unpredictable than usual, so I bought this eheim auto feeder to make sure the fish were at least getting small dry food feedings on a regular basis:

I'm very happy with it so far. I've tried other feeders before (including another eheim model) but it seems like they always just stopped working. This one has been very reliable in the month or so I've been using it.

I used a ehiem feeder(battery's last almost a year for me) and fashioned this ring out of an old 1000ml spectrum lid.

Here's a pic:

After a while my fish got a little crazy and I had to add a second anchor and ties on the left side as well. The feeder sits on my eurobrace on top of the mesh top.

Look up the Aquarium Super Feeder (ASF-1) on super-feeder.com. It's the only one I'm aware of that plugs into an AC/DC outlet. I have mine connected to my Apex to control my 3x/day feedings. It also has a feeding funnel as well.

This is basically the exact setup I use, except I use a lid from an old bottle of fish food zip tied to the screen top. Same feeder, I've never considered the battery life but it's definitely a long time, mine has been working for 1yr+

Thanks for all the help.

I just checked out the site, and read up on these feeders. Those look like some REAL auto feeders.
Does the funnel serve as a feeding ring?

IME if you use the eheim feeder with pellets the pellets sink before they go over the overflow (i've never had to use a feeding ring).

Yes, the funnel serves as the feeding ring. Also, it prevents the food in the feeder from becoming wet and clumping.

The hydor feeder is awesome. 1-3 feedins a day... Over a 12hr span, not 24hr.

Set first feeding, the others are at 6 hrs with no feedings
In the night 12 hrs.

No feeding ring. Junk.

I use nls pellet and it is perfect. Current catches the pellets and disperse. Never use flake.
