Some good water movement going on in there Mel :)

Thanks Dadekster! All I have running right now is my quiet one 4 return on penducters and a mj1200 with sure flow mod. Will be getting my vortechs this weekend so I'll have some serious flow soon. Cant wait!

Hey, philosophish the tank and stand was $350. The stand is really well made. Fully setup to fit a sump underneath and is drilled on the top to run plumbing through. Nice little set up for the cost, cant wait till its up and running

Glad to find this thread... I love shallow tanks. I currently have a 12 long (36x8x9), but am planning to upgrade this winter to a 48x18x12 tank, and am wondering about lighting. I know I could go with T5s, but I'm also thinking about 70w MH. Would 2 of those be sufficient for a tank of these dimensions? I've never used MH before.

80 gallons shallow

80 gallons shallow

I just started 80 gallons shallow reef, still waiting for ordered skimmer (ATI PoweCone 200) and lighting Giesemann Infinty. Now I have there 4 fishes, which I had to put there after 2 weeks cycling. I had before Biorb Life which was not suitable for reef ...

Right now I have a 36" 6 bulb tek t5ho.

Its not enough light for the tank.
Adding in another 6 bulb tek would work but I dont want to change 12 bulbs a year.

I was thinking a 250w halide with a lumenmax 3 (11.5"x11.5")

But i doubt that will be able to takeon a 3x3' area.

What every one useing to light wide tanks?

NICE TANK EDGERO!

Great choice on the fish too. There is something appealing about natural light hitting a tank and seeing the true colors of everything in it.
