SO I guess 250w is outta the question.. I guess I'll need 400w with a BIG reflector.


Tanks is 36x30x18

I don't thinks so, I think a 250w in the right fixture will be more than enough. Your tank is shallow, so just find a reflector that is larger, raise it up a bit and enjoy. Here's another article, about the lumenbright reflectors, http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-06/review/index.php and you can see that even the 175w units have decent light levels.

Lighting will be 78 LEDs (FEDY) on 3 Meanwells attached to an ALC via RKL.

It will be attached to a light mover 3.5 that will travel back and forth.

For flow, I'm using a Dart as the return pump, coming up through an OM 4way. The tank underneath is a 40B - I plan to stick the skimmer in there and then maybe a little rock as well.

In the ad it looks like it has a beige tint to it but in your tank it looks more white.

I have the 6x39w sunpower on my 48"x27x14 and it is 10" above the water It has plenty of coverage. Very happy no light spill.

Glasscages? I am setting up the same tank right now. For now I am using a single 250 watt metal halide (lumenbrite pendant w/ Icecap Ballast). I'm on the fence on whether I want to go LED or T5, so I'm going to take my time and use what I have for now..... no sense rushing that big of a decision.
