Leopards and hallicores ones usually hide right away once placed in a tank. Guess its a defensive mechanism. They'll come out here and there till they feel fully brave about it and swim all over the place.
Some wrasses have been known to eat nudis. Wrasses will also help control pod population. Many surgeons will graze on algae. Does anyone care to share what their dogs are doing?
Here is my clown ferry wrasse. They do a great job. I noticed some flatworms about a year ago and got this guy and two days there was not another flatworm to be seen.
Right now she guards the rack (random) anything i put up there that i dont want bubba the blue knuckle hermit to knock over goes up there. Gold frogspawn and SINGLE zoa frags brother your favorite! lol... and she watches it like a hawk...
No not all wrasses need a sand bed. I think all most all of them do but I know sixlines don't being that they sleep in rocks. Im sure there are others but thats the only one im a 100% sure on. I wouldn't want to mislead you but i think even some of the ones that need sand could do well if there is enough porus rock IMO
