I tried making a panorama for the first time this weekend, it's a compilation of 8 shots all taken at 100mm (was wishing for my wide angle lens...) and then stitched together in Photoshop. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

Nothing too spectacular, but now that I know how easy it is, I think I'll try this more. I fished from where the picture is taken, caught quite a few large mouth bass. This is right outside the pool/gaming area at my wife's grandparents house, it was pretty nice, I'd dip in the pool, get bored, go fishing, get back in the pool, then go fish, then get in the hot tub, then go fish... and so on and so forth :)

Anyway, please share your panoramas with the rest of us! I'd really like to see some.

This is one of Bucking Mule Falls (500ft water fall you can see just the top of) in Devil's Canyon last summer. This was just a few miles from where we camped. Stitched together I think from 32 different shots using CombineZM.

Penalty - what the heck is that? Did I fall into the rabbit hole or what? (looks like some use of the swirl filter?)

from my website - Peyto Lake in the Canadian Rockies. That was before I really knew what the heck I was doing (with Panos) and I used a fairly wide angle lens. Made for a lot of work for me to get it to work!! Live and learn :). The first one here is stitched, the others just cropped.... http://www.greene-art.com/thumbnail_pages/panorama.html

It is, so called "Tiny planet". Actually panorama which is rounded by using polar coordinates*. It is very easy to be done and personally, i like the outcome.

Some more panoramas by me.

Anyone interested in virtual tours (click on the picture below)?

* - Do Google search with tiny planet panorama

Penalty - that is a wild but strange effect. I like the first one you posted the best, very cool.

Penalty - what software did you use to put the google street view type one together? :) That kind of stuff interests me, I've thought of doing something like that in the past. I'd also really like to find a good scene to do a gigapan type stitch on.

Love the canadian rockies pics IPT. such a beautiful place. I was planning a motorcycle ride there a couple years ago that fell through. one day I will make it up as far north as at least Jasper.

Alexander....I live in Alaska, still the Canadian Rockies are one of the most beautiful places I have EVR been. DO be sure that you get there. The icefields Parkway would be a great ride!

Not to go TOTALLY off topic here but I really cant wait. I have been to Denali before and other places in the fairbanks area, but the canadian rockies are a must. Peaks are the same as the rockies here but the valleys are so much lower so the changes in elevation and soaring mountains have to be breathtaking views.

It is Autopano with krpano module. Actually it is the krpano which makes the virtual tours. You can have it separately from here.

Now is a good moment to show my pride in virtual tours making - Amara club marine. :love2: I spend my vacation last summer there, great place.

Penalty - tell us some more about the virtual tour (it's pretty cool. I may be able to use that for my offices website). What focal length were you using? How many images? The one thing for me here at my office with DSL was it took quite some time to download. I am interested in knowing more about it though.

Alex - for me it was the color of the Lakes. Almost unreal. A lot of people thought I PS'd the color. Nope, it is exactly that inyensity! I also found the peaks to be quite ruggard (sp?) looking.

Ok, one by one.
It is done with 8mm Peleng (circular) on a cropped body (which makes something like 13mm full frame).
Each pano consist of 6 images and some of them also include zenith + nadir.
Entire tour is pieced together from ~100 images, all of them shot by hand.
The best choice is to use panorama head on tripod, which sadly i don't own.
The flash file is ~15 megabytes and probably you are not the only one downloading it right now, this could be the reason of the longer download time.
The software used, I already mentioned above.

Thanks for the encouraging words, everyone! Always happy to receive positive comments. :o
However, i don't want to overtake Recty's thread (which i already did), so Recty, sorry!

Dirty stinking hijackers ;)

Nah, I dont really care.

I tried out doing my own "tiny planet" of my panorama, it's pretty cool.

Recty - you're the man..:). Thanks for starting this thread.

Penalty - wow, I am suprised you used such a wide angle lens. Usually with the stitching Panos it is recommended to used more of a tele lens so there is less distortion and things blend together more easily. Is this not the case with the Virtual tour thing? Why did you choose the lens (focal length) that you did?

This is the Beluga power plant up here in Alaska, the company I work for runs it.

And then I tiny planeted it ;)
