Just thought it was interesting to see these guys coming out again. I haven't seen them for MONTHS (after introducing 6 Peppermint Shrimp to the ecosystem). Tonight I had a major feeding, and come to find out, they're still HERE!
Eh, I'm not going to bother trying to battle them. As far as I can tell they're perfectly fine. I have lost some fish over the years (learning level fish) but I never suspected them as the culprits. The symptoms (prior to disappearance) always made me lean towards tank bullying. I just treat the Bristles as a part of my CUC.
I have a few bristle worms, I just let them be. I have a couple of pretty big ones in my sump under where the water falls in. I guess they grab the food as it falls in the sump from there.
As far as I know they have never been a problem.
I've heard from numerous sources that bristleworms are good for your tank. I think they just get a bad rap because they look gross and are similar to fireworms and bobbit worms, which are the devil.
I'm still on the fence on whether I want to willingly add them to my tank.
I can't say I'd ever willingly add them to a DT. However, unless I get rid of my substrate and LR, I'll be living with these guys for the rest of my DT's life.
