Ok,
It's no reef or anything but I did not want to leave the hobby al together so until I have a house with a basement I will run my shark tank. After selling everything I got 3 banded cat sharks and left a little rock pile for them to hide in......more pics to come after they grow some.

Wow, those guys are tiny. Are they in the 125 at the moment? You said that you are eventually moving right? Do you plan on doing a shark reef once you get into the new place?

Yes but that wont be for about 1-2 years, thats why I got these guys so small.....eventually I will do a huge build out in a basement. I just came accross plans for a 1700 Gallon and it really was not too expensive.......three sides are wood with the walls epoxied and one panel of glass in front.

When you build your 1700, plan on massive evaporation. I had the wifes blessing on a 1000 gal reef and chose not to for the evaporation reason. The tank is cheap, but the heat exhanger and means to deal with the humidity aren't so cheap.

thinking the same thing with evaporation. The tank is the LEAST expensive it's everything else thats needed fro up keep that will break the bank.

Yes American Bulldog.

As for evaporation, the guy who did the original tank said it was not so bad because the room that it was in was completly sealed I guess it would be no worse then the evaporation of a pool. The only light on his tank are flourescents and the with that said I am sure the tank temp is easier to control.....

I still have a lot of research to do, there is also the option of a Lagoon style tank like the one at Oceans Floor.

Completely sealed?

Mold, mold, mold.

You want serious ventilation, my friend. capncapo is your man to talk to, remember, friends can make enormous mistakes...
