shark vitamins

I would like to know who out there has been using Mazuri's shark vitamins? If you have, I would like to know which formulation, how often, and on what species of shark or ray. Any other info you care to add would be appreciated.

I found the Mazuri site and it appears as though the vitamin dosage is based on how many pounds of food you are feeding. This dosage is mostly likely based on the feeding amounts and schedules for larger sharks in major aquariums, but I would say that If you cut up the vitamin into smaller portions based on the amount and fequency you are feeding to your animals, you'd be fine.
Good Luck

Pilot fish, I use their smaller tablet .19 gram. The larger tablet 1.5 gram size is used per half pound of food. My horn sharks eat nearly that much at a time. True most public aquariums use them with sharks that weight 20 to 200 pounds, not two pounds, but I think there are some members of this forum that use these vitamins for small sharks like bamboo and epaulette. I hope some of these folks respond with their results.

What I meant to convey was that If you do not over do it with the vitamins you should be ok. I kind of got off on a different angle before sorry.

I am pretty sure that you dose the vitamins by the weight of the shark or ray. So you have to periodically weigh the fish so you can give them the correct dose.

Here is the composition of the Product of the 5MD8 vitamin.
I am just now starting to use these vitamins, and thought about using a control group to see if there were any noticable difference between the two groups after 12 months, 24 months and so on. I was hoping a few shark enthusiasts out there that have been using Mazuri's vitamins for 6 to 12 months might share their un-scientific thoughts on the product.

I think that you are going to be hard pressed to find some or many who use those vitamins on this site, and I would't take any "un-scientific advise" from anyone here regarding sharks/rays. Unfortunately, alot of what you read on this site is gross misinformation or individuals arguing over how big of a shark that the can stuff into their small tank. I am not knocking RC because I have picked up really some good info from the site but I have not been impressed with the shark info that I have seen.

Pilot fish, I know what you are saying about most shark questions being "how big a shark can I stuff into how small a tank?" I was hoping to stimulate some more thoughtful discussion about shark keeping. Believe me, I don't take anything I read as gospel. But I do believe there are some public and private aquariums that keep sharks well. I have talked to the people at the research dept. at Mazuri, and I will be talking to a few public aquariums about their use of the product, but I thought some of the sharkers on this board may want to offer some of their opinions. I am not looking for scientific results from anybody, even the public aquariums that I know of have not been using the vitamins in a scientific manner, but I take any and all information, sift through it, and decide what may be useful.
