Shipping macro algae in the winter

I finally setup a sump and am working on putting a refuge in it. I want to try Chaeto, a red mangrove and maybe a couple of other macros. My 2 questions are

1: its going to be a high of 33 next week, will the macro survive the winter shipping? or will I need to wait till spring

2: Do I need refuge mud or will plain sand work? I don't really understand what's so special about the mud?

They can send it with heat paks, so you should be good.

Macros don't need mud. A mangrove might like it. Mud generally will have more nutrients than sand, so higher plants like seagrasses and mangroves like it. The macros just suck up nutrients from the water.

Macro ships quite well. I ship my macro routinely throughout the winter. If you need packing and shipping help let me know... Or for macro for that matter. I'm always trimming back my varieties, pretty sure I can help you out when your ready

Finz I was just thinking about you the other day..cant wait to get some macro from ya. by that time it will be spring tho
