how can i ship a mantis. i read dr. roys clicky page on this forum, so i kinda get the basics but i dont know the details. there are two matis' i want to get rid of, for free to any of you who are willing to help. they are both small, one is a female haptosquilla glyptocercus about 3.5cm and the other is a small brown mantis about 3 cm with a tail that resembles the "urchin mantis" dr. roy told me what it was but i forgot the name. they are both living together peacefully but i want to upgrade to a bigger mantis and i dont want them to get hurt. i have access to 1000 ml plastic bottles, how long will that keep a mantis that small alive and what should the water /air ratio be? i will ship to anyone who is willing to pay for shipping.

pics of female at request, no pics of the little brown one because he hides too much.

Animals this size are easily shipped. Put them in a half or full liter "spring water" bottle filled 1/4 with clean seawater and the rest air. Don't feed the animals for a couple of days prior to shipping so that they won't foul the water. If possible, place them in a small styrofoam box and ship overnight courier service. They actually should be able to survive for two days.

thanks Dr. Roy, i was hoping you would catch this one. i have acces to 1000mL bottles (guess thats really just 1 liter) at my work and they have measured increments on the side, so that should make things easy.
thanks for the help.

I would love to have a mantis shrimp you still have them for free? My zip is 62451 if you could tell me what shipping would be Thanks Bill Drop me a PM

ya i still have the little brown one if you want it. actually i havent seen him in a couple weeks, he hides alot, but he's yours if you want it. they stay small and he lives with another mantis in the same tank so you could say he is very mellow. he eats formula one flakes. i'll let you know if he's still in there and how much shipping is.
