I am soon going to be looking for a controller for my 215.I do not want to get too crazy. The main reason for getting one is for timers, control temp,ph.Any suggestions on an easy to set up and use controller and be able to do the job right.

AC JR is pretty good and fairly cheep you can have the whole package with dc8 and lab grade probe for around $270

what is the difference between the two controllers

what makes one better than the other

I bought the Reefkeeper lite because i like DA support. Also, all the modules for the lite can be used with the elite if i ever upgrade.

However, the lite is a new system and was launched with a minor bug that was quickly corrected. The ACJr has been around longer.

If you only want something to turn on and off light and basic stuff, I will take the Jr. But if you want something more "complex" that can send you email and have the potential, I will take a GLH Profilux. It's completely upgradable and you can program it to do almost everything. I would take a profilux anytime over a AC3.

stay away from reef keeper2,ive had it 2 months, nothing but problems and cant get any help on fixing problems..waiting about a month now with no answers.should of bought the ac jr...JMO

good luck

I've got the reefkeeper elite- might be more then you think you need right now... but one's "needs" in this hobby tend to change over time!

You should look at this site: www.aquariumcontrollers.com

the_rider - The GHL Profilux is way too expensive, especially for what the OP was asking for.

Hammsreefbeer - What have you gone through to try to remedy the problem you're having with the RK2? I know tons of people that have them and love them. Did you try the DA support forum? http://forum.digitalaquatics.com Or email to support@digitalaquatics.com Or calling them? They have made some significant changes to their support structure.

I am a very happy RKE owner and would never even consider using anything else.

ive email /pm and have a current thread i started this morning and last time i check nothing.dont get me wrong i like DA controllers its just the rk2 has alot of problems.my multi timers is no good, channel7 does nt controll 7 it controlls channel 8

Well, hopefully Scott will get back to you shortly. Maybe the guy that built yours was drunk. It definately seems like a fluke. The DA support forum at their website is a better place to communicate to DA than here. They don't check RC quite as often.

thanx dave for the imformation but my problem is common with the rk2(channel issues)and its all over the DA forum.
im not trying to sway anyone from buying this product, just trying to inform dupont of the issues with the rk2..maybe the lite or elite is a much better controller.
like ive said before i love my controller other then the channel issue.

thank you and have a good day guys:)

The profilux is not that bad. That's why I said if he want something more complex I would take the Profilux. It's 600 for the starter kit and I have the Jr. Loves it but my DC8 is going the warranty again for the second time in 6 months. I had a outlet that caugh fire ... and now 2 outlet doesn't turn off, 1 doesn't turn on.

The jr is a good starter controler i had mine for years and it work great i went to the ac3 pro for the email and remote control when not home over the internet
The only prolbem with the neptons controlers are the computer lang. of programing them takes time to get used to it , but it does make it so you can do so much more so it is a good thing if you dont loss your mind first and it takes some time to get used to !

I just recently had to replace my temp Probe for my ACJR after 1 year of operation. I really liked the unit until this happened. I suppose probes go bad all the time, but no one stocked the ACJR probe. That was a real pain in the A$$. Had to pay big time to et a probe overnighted to me. Also had to replace the PH probe once, and the one that I recived in the mail didn't work either.

Something to consider when selecting a controller for sure.

I don't wanna bash Neptunes because I love my unit, but a lot of defective unit/part seems to happen more than the usual %. I also have my Temp probe that when nut causing my heater 500W to run overnight hopefully the temp only when to 86 and it was when I was still cycling.

Thinking about it, a lot of thing happen with my unit not sure i "like" my unit that much anymore lol

Im going to throw my vote in for the RKE. I love it. At first I just used it for basic timers and monitors. Since then I have gotten very creative with my functions. Best money i've spent in the hobby so far.
