my nems are in a 45 gallon, thats a yr old.

Ive had a 90 gal cycling for 4 weeks. all base rock and 1/2 the rock from my 45.

Well, nitrates, trites and ammonia have been at zero for about a week. And just lastnight I started growing coraline on my pumps and in my fuge.

Im super nervous about making the transition and moving the rest of my coral, fish and the 2 nems to the new tank. (considering you should wait 6 months and I agree with that)

Ive been doing water changes on the 90 with water from my reef... all perimeters are stable and the same as my reef.

Im still getting alot of film algea on the glass... but all blooms have stopped (last bloom was diatoms. and my first bloom was also diatoms)

what would u do?

You're using all your old rock and not increasing your bioload right away... I really can't see a reason not to do it; for all intents and purposes you've just added a sump to the 45.

I'm doing the same thing from a 30 to a 75 since xmas. I used 1/2 the sand and LR from 7 month old 30 gal and the other half was cured LR and live sand from LFS. Even used 30 gals of old water from water changes in 30 gal. I added a niger trigger and lawn mower blenny 5 weeks ago. I took a chance and put a h.crispa in 4 weeks ago it's doing fine. I added ocell. clown and sm.foxface 3 weeks ago and some zoas. All doing fine. I added another h.crispa and ocell. clown 2 weeks ago All doing fine so far . All h20 parms are perfect amon = 0, trats =0. I still have a lil cyano on sand and rocks but most of it has cleared..The back of the tank has green algea. Growing cheato in 29 gal fuge with 20 lbs LR and reverse lighting. So far so good.....Go for it...slowly...A little at a time.

I see so many other people encouraging you to do it and it just seems to me like you're being awfully hasty.

If you're going to do it this soon, can you at least leave the established tank up for a couple of weeks just in case?

a couple weeks? i donno, i could. but i see myself slacking on an empty tank. I agree people are very hasty lol

I put a few of my corals in the new one. they are fine. (favite, gsp, and red polyps) oviously dident try any corals that are harder to keep yet

I still am undecided :(

oh.. the 90 has a sump and fuge as well so its more like going from a 45 to a 120....

Did I put the thought in your mind to speed up transfer?!LOL
Don't rush if you don't feel it.
I'm kinda pushing it and I know it, but if my landlord sees 2 tanks totalling 300g in my living room he's gonna drop a gold brick in his shorts!
Then I'll have a more serious problem!
I honestly think by your readings you'll be OK, and when I get the same readings I'm going for it.
But I'd go all the way if you do it(not keep old running) so you can have every bit of bio in new tank.
Good luck, and nice new avatar!

more coraline popped up in the fuge overnight. Im going to put somthing more delicate over there probley tomorrow. like a frogspawn or a brain or somthing

thanks about the aviator. i ended up buying the original painting of it. way b4 i was into reefing too. now i love it even more :) it was painted by richard biffle the day jerry died (same guy that did ALOT of the grateful dead shirts with the tyedye around the edges)

Very cool!
I'm sure your transfer will go smooth, especially if you're already getting that much coraline.
Maybe a little Jerry will help me have the patience you had! :)
I keep looking at my new tank and IT'S KILLING ME TO NOT STOCK IT!!!LOL
I can't wait 'till this is finished!
Best of luck.

jerry was an all in kinda guy! lmao

btw.. my ammonia level read .025 on salifert and aquarium pharmicuticals. i had to take it and get a real ammonia test done (with that lil machine you sit a vial on) to get a real reading. (0)

couldent understand why nitrites were leveling off and ammonia was still there. false readings....

think im gonna move a frogspawn and a monti cap today... maybe :D

I will NOT be called a tease!!! So heres some pics :D

Old tank, whats left of it. (been scraping the coraline off the back and putting that in the new tank too)
New tank. (bound to be reaquascaped the day everything is moved over. Already have plans for certain rocks...
Refugium (went on an algea mission and came up with cheato, calupra, helmedia, mangroves and a shaving brush! lol) Its FILLED with pods already. Im totally loving my lil planted fuge!!
Sump. Might get some media reactors n stuff....

Well you could always keep it where it's at and consider it a species tank. :D I'd wait myself. Or actually I'd have 2 tanks.

no two tanks option. just the 90. :)

Im going to wait another week for the nems. Im going to start moving coral over slowly.

Looks real nice!
That is some seriously purple coraline.
I like the scape of the new tank, when corals are in that'll look sweet.
I personally won't let calerpa come in contact w/ my tank.
Got some as a hitcher on LR and it is a PITA to get out of display.
Make sure to keep mangrove leaves from touching SW.

*happydance* I just spotted a BUNCH of coraline dots on the back glass of the 90!!! they were ugly brown dots a few days ago.... I just upped my alk this morning, it was a lil low, wasent paying attention. yay!!

I dident ask for the calapra, i actually requested to not have any but there were pieces all thru the cheato.

mangroves safe.

I cant believe all the coraline i got today. :)

Very cool.
I would pick out all calerpa, or at least keep fuge lights on 24/7 to keep it from gowing sexual and spreading.
It's about as bad as HA to get rid of once in tank.
