Should I really even have my bio wheel?

For some reason I just find it hard to let go Doesn't it add more bio filtration? I have about 1"-2" of live sand and 30lbs. of lr very porous my tank is a 36 gal. bow front Can I still keep it? How much and how do I have to rinse it?

The bio wheel actually helps with oxygenating the water

Just toss it and get a protein skimmer. ..and add a couple powerheads.

I'd use it to run carbon from time to time. Other than that not so much.

How much should I rinse my bio wheel and what specific way is there to do that?
