There aren't too many repulsive small fish for aquariums, simply because they don't sell well. If you have medium sized fish, get a wolf "eel" (actually a dottyback). They are REALLY cool looking and interesting to watch. Big bugged out eyes and a sinister looking mouth. They get 18" though, so no small fish. Probably no shrimp either. But if you just have corals it would be a wild-looking addition.

stevebydac beat me to it with the wolf eel. charming fish, at least mine is so far. I love fish with character. 
Other "ugly", but not to me, fish I keep:
wartskin anglers (plus a few others) - best in a species tank but do ok with corals
Hawaiian leaf fish - can't keep with aggressive feeders and they will eat all your shrimp
zebra moray - mine looks like Mr. Magoo in the face. gets big, can rearrange rockwork, eats inverts, never bothers fish.
orange toadfish - another ambush predator not safe with inverts or small fish
some people might think seahorses are ugly, I keep them too.
guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Actually come to think of it, THE ugliest fish is a stonefish. But I STRONGLY recommend NOT getting one as they are potentially deadly. A related scorpionfish is a close 2nd.

The carnal fish is not really ugly but is defanitly not dezirable. Know that wolf eel is badass!!! But it looks like he would eat all my good looking fish though. Plus my tank is only 110g. I saw a picture in a book of a kind of a golby. It's grey, has big eyes and a big mouth. He's so ugly he's cute. He looks like he would eat all the fish in the tank but is actually a nice fish. When I go to my lfs tomarrow I'll look through the book again and find out what it's name is.

Seriously, how do you take care of him? Is he extremely venomous? I've kept all sorts of aggressive fish, but I draw the line at these. I'm not really in the mood for a heart attack (or worse) from a fish. I'll just stick with the guys with big teeth.

I was wrong about the ugly fish I saw in a book. It's not a golbe it's called a dusky jawfish. Found it at liveaquaria.

That's him!!!! He's awesome. I've got to get me one. Are they hard to keep. I'm tired of hard to keep fish. One big waste of money if they don't stay alive. As of now, all I've got in my tank is a mated pair of gold stripe maroon clowns, one six-line-wrasse(four years old),and the king (adult emperor angel).

Another vote for pajama cardinal fish. I think Scopas tangs are hideous as well.
