Show me your 20k Radium tanks?

143gadgets.... that tank looks verrrryyy sexy. THAT is exactly why I don't know if I should change from my 250w 14k halide over my 40g breeder to a ATI 6bulb fixture. Ahhh lighting is such a pita to decide

Its going to be different depending on wattage, ballast, supplemental, how low they are to the water etc.

I can say that I run my 400w 6hrs and my 2xVHO super actinic 12hrs.

Thanks for the info. All I am running are the 250 watt radiums with Lumatek ballasts. Right now im at 8 hours. I would like to cut back for heat and energy savings. Do you think six hours is enough? We are not home until late evening anyway.

3x 250w 20000k on icecap ballast
1x 48" actinic supplement
I love the color. I want to add 4x 453nm trueLumen led strips for supplment and get rid of the t-5. Anyone have expierences with those led strips??

There was a little complication with import documentation. So you might not see them in the U.S. for a bit. Might be able to get them over seas still not sure.

I have 1 for sale in the used equipment forum...Brand New 75 shipped plus a 10mth old radium as backup.

I just order the Radium 250w 20k...looking forward to the results. I currently have the Ushio 20k running on Ice Cap ballast.

We've been waiting for that since thread Day 1. HAHA

LMAO funny for sure- a 2008 thread.

I sincerely believe theres no better lighting spectrum than 20 radiums but my girly tank will do LMAO

I surprised you where around then when the thread started since theres sooooo much turnover in this hobby recently.

Interested in keeping this one alive too. Been researching lighting options for the new tank and am considering mixing AI SOLs and 2x 250w radiums under lumenmax elites.

Problem I am running into now seems to be the ballast issue. I get that the 250 should be run by a magnetic m80 ballast to run to spec, but now there are more options on the e ballast side. Luxcore for instance that has a 250hqi setting.

So whats the consensus on these newer ballasts. Mirror m80 specs? or just stick to magnetic ballast cause they are tried and true?

If so, what brand should I be looking at? seems they are all discontinued or out of business since radiums hit their peak. all these threads are years old.

Insights please!
