Show me your 20k Radium tanks?

Anyone used both the 250w and 400w radium?
If so are you seeing faster growth with the 400w? I have always used 250s but I think I'm gonna try the 400. Color is excellent under 250 but growth is really slow.

Can anyone chime in on this?

Anyone check with a par meter? What par range seems to be best?

I know I few guys who run 400s and a combo of 250s on the ends and a 400 in the middle..the corals under the 400s seem to do better with growth, but colors are about the same. The extra heat and power can be an issue. I run 250s and really like them.

Yes, without a doubt I've always gotten better sps growth under 400w Radiums versus 250w Radiums, all on an HQI ballast.

Are ice cap ballasts HQI ballasts?

No, Icecap ballasts are electronic. There is no such thing as an "electronic HQI". An "HQI" ballast is a magnetic ballast that fires at a specified voltage and wattage to the lamp, and has an external ignitor on the ballast.

My electronic dimmable Lumateks have a 250w HQI setting on the dial, but they may call it that inaccurately, i don't know, I'm no electrician....ha

Looking good. Do you use any actinic supplement?

I do have blue TrueLumen Pro strips in the canopy, but to be honest, you can't tell a difference when the halides are on since they are so bright. They are my lighting for before and after the halides go off

When on that setting they are trying to mimic the wattage being supplied to the bulb as what the magnetic"HQI" ballast would push to it. The HQI settings on adjustable electronic ballasts do not equal that of what a magnetic HQI ballast would push. For example, the "250 HQI" setting on an electronic ballast does not output the same power to the bulb as what an actual magnetic M80 ballast would push.

So would these not work on Ice caps? Jeremy what's the best ballast for these to match those 4 PFO mogul pendants I got from you?

So what's the best 250w and 400w ballast to run these with? Will 400w x 4 cook a tank that's 84" long by 28" deep and 25" high? Using pfo pendants. I am deciding if I should go 400 or 250.
