great thread...i have 1 femail lyretail, she's doing very well, coloring up nicely. I didnt realize when i got it that they grew to 5 inches, but i feel badly that she's a loaner...would it be better for the fish if there was another femaile or male in the tank? my tank is only a 46g bowfront...right now the fish is maybe 2". she eats voracioulsy, likes mysis and brine...goes after the flakes but hasnt eaten any yet

Evansi and one carberryi

What did you feed the evansi? LA accidentally sent me one with my carberryis and it wouldn't eat anything I gave it!! It hid most of the time as well :/ It died a couple days ago and LA was nice enough to refund as it wasn't what I wanted.

1. How big is your tank? 125 gallon

2. How many anthias do you have in your tank? 2 (had 3 but one was evansi like I said and didn't make it)

3. How much and how often do you feed them? NLS pellets in the morning and I rotate between rod's food, mysis and cylopeeze in the evening. they will also eat nori that floats by from my kole tang.

4. Their behavior? (swimming habit, where do they hang, etc) They swim all over the tank, hide out in the rocks and ALWAYS go to get cleaned by the cleaner shrimp.

Love that saddled anthias, i wish i had a big tank, so i could keep em!

Those little suckers will beat the snot out of each other. Our trio started out fine for a few months, then BANG, the two larger fish killed the smallest and then one of those two finally came out on top, which we still have.

They are indeed one of the prettiest anthias tho, but for sheer presence, the blotchies can't be beat. Our trio is so bold that they will stick feed right along with our Scorpaeniformes, and they feel like gamefish when they strike and grab the 50# test line at the end of the stick.

That is awesome! Any photos or video of that feeding response?
