show me your CUBE!!!

Here is my 93 cube. I love the dimensions. Can't wait for my frags start turn into collonies.
Tanks is about 8 months old. Just added SPS about 2 months ago.
I am in the process of adding some par 30 boost bulbs all royal blue LED for sumplementation. Kinda stinks to only have 6 hours of light from my MH.

Why do you only have 6 hrs of lights from your MH? I actually run 8 + hours with no other supplimwntal lighting. That one of the reason i like cubes i can get away with using one MH bulb

I feel that any more than 6-7 hours is a waste of energy. Corals only need around 6 hours of intense light. Any more light goes to waste. In the ocean corals only receive maybe 4 to 5 hours of intense light. Plus my tank would get to warm if I had my halides on for another 2 hours. I feel that if I got 2 par 30 all blue LED bulbs that I could have my lights on for 12 hours a day. Have my LED's come on at 10 AM. Have the halide come one at 12:00 PM and then my halides would shut off at 6:30 PM. Then my LED's will stay on until 10-11PM. That would be wonderful.

...sorry but there are THOUSANDS of expertly and beautifully created reef tanks that completely render those statements untrue.

Lighting, no matter what type or how many watts, is NOT the sun. You cannot directly compare hours of sunlight to hours of artificial illumination.

I wasn't saying that the light I am emitting on my reef is the sun. But it is intense lighting. I was referring to how the light throughout the day starts low rises up to its highest point then it slowly goes back down. I have heard that corals only take in so much light. My 400W MH is about as intense as it gets for my 93 cube. I feel that if there was any more light I would get bleaching. My corals have great color and are growing well. I guess it varies. I feel my way makes sense. I'm not saying that I only have light on for 6.5 hours a day. If I had supplemental lighting I would run my supplemental lighting 12 hours a day, and my MH 6.5-7 hours a day.

So essentially I am proposing that 10 to 12 hours of constant 400W MH on my tank would be pointless and detrimental in my opinion. The sun is not constantly pouring on intense light for 10 to 12 hours a day. You have sun rise, sunset, and cloud coverage.

bare bottom tank! looks awesome. especially with the two tangs.

btw does everyone get their tanks from lfs's or online. I'm having trouble finding a reasonable cube. I just want the tank with overflows. I will build my own stand and setup.

I got mine from the lfs, marineland 60 gal cube. You can also customize the tank size u want. Most tank companies make custom tanks including marineland.

I think marineland has a 30x30x24 , i have not been able to find one in my area but its on their website . I first saw it one in an advertisement in an aquarium magazine. I looked into having one made and have not took the plunge as of yet.
