Show me Your Fancy STANDS!!!

I don't know if mine qualifies as fancy but I'd like to think it is. I should have it done in a couple of weeks. Its for a 46 gallon bow front tank.

I'll show mine it's my first DIY stand. was going for a old rustic look and full sump access.
it's skinned with recycled wood. might give some one some ideas...

Well you don't necessarily "bend wood" per say. You can, but takes a ton of work and the right equipment.

All it is regular 1/4" ply wood which can form to a certain radii. If you can get 1/8" plywood, a little better. But this thick of plywood has its difficulties such as the studs outlined/showing through, problems getting nails/staples to stay, glue can penetrate through, warping, etc. If you want a tighter radius to "form" the wood, you simply cut notches into the plywood height wise, 1"-1.5" apart, half way through the ply wood, along the entire sheet you are going to form. This will allow you to "bend" the plywood to just about any radius. This is the common method in wood building and in construction. Hope this helps.

Nice rustic look. It's hard to tell from looking at the pictures, did you seal it with anything?

Wow, some of you guys are really building some impressive stands.

maroun,c: Wow! I'll be following your build thread. Your sketchup of what it should look like looks great, and very original.

javajaws: I love your stand, again, very original.

Heres the updated stand.
The old one took away from the tank itself. So i decided to go with black.
All thats left is a towel hanger.

Reef Savvy Rimless Build

Reef Savvy Rimless Build

Here is my new 90 Gallon Rimless build. As you can tell, it is inspired by the famous Reef In the Sky tank here on RC. I will be installing the AI's and setting up the live sand and rock this weekly...hopefully.

I love your stand. It looks great. I'm glad to see you got a tank from Felix (Reef Savvy). His tanks are incredible and he's a great guy. His build quality is second to none. Will you be starting a thread for your tank?

Thanks Canesfan. It took a little longer to build than I'd hoped. I will likely start a build thread for the 320, when Felix finishes it up in September. I picked up this rimless used here in Jacksonville. My plan was to move my livestock from my 180 to allow me to prepare for the new tank. Once I got the rimless, I couldn't help but build it a modern stand. I've always wanted a rimless tank, but the wife wasn't a big fan of the idea. I think that she is a fan of the finished setup though.

Felix is a great guy. Called him with a question about buying this used setup and he immediately knew who the owner was and helped me decide whether it was a good deal. He also got the programmer from AI on the phone to answer a couple of my questions about using AI Whites and Blues on the same controller. It has been a pleasure to work with him so far. I cannot wait to get my 320. There is no doubt about the quality of Felix's (Reef Savvy) work. I will post some additional photos once I hang the AI's this week.
