Show me Your Fancy STANDS!!!

I used pine for the trim and plywood for the panels. Gunstock for the stain. It is not the most elegant stand I have seen, but I am happy with it.

I love seeing all those stands. They're each different in their own way. They all give me new ideas for future stands, and they always make me want to go out and build a new stand.

I normally don't like custom mixing, but if you do, make enough to keep for later, touch ups/add ons and such.
And if you clear coat that will have an affect as well, usually darker, but just keep that in mind.

Having done custom wood floors for 12 years for people such as Joan Jett, Billy Joel, Bobby Nystrom, Charles and James Dolan etc I'm pretty good with mixing custom colors and making sure I have enough "Stock" left over in case.

But still VERY good points made for those that may not have known that.

Ah you know whats up then.
I've done work for some people that insist on getting involved in color mixing, which makes it fun to match when I do more work for them later, especially if they don't make extra or even store it properly.
Lets see some pics.

I posted mine awhile back as the build started. It's for a 245G tank (84x24x28). Here's an update. Base is getting close. Crown molding around the top is finishing up. Really only finish work left on the base.

The canopy is going to have an automated lift system as well as front access doors. The lift rails are ordered and working to finalize the design now.

Left end panel is removable (magnets). Right end panel is removable from the inside with a wood stop that rotates. The left one (magnetic) is easy to access as it covers the electrical. The right end is possible but not easy. It will only be used for putting in the sump or removing in an emergency.

You can see the electrical compartment before it's finished in on the left end (a few small shelves at the bottom).

The left in panel is finished already so we could see the final product before the rest of the base was finished.

Here are a few pics of our stand. I made the stand and canopy out of oak, to mimic the rest of our furniture in the living room which is Broyhill Attic Heirloom.

That's nice, you really don't see too many stands that are open on the bottom like that.

made the stand, then skinned it. did the glass with some chemical etching.

you can google any image and do the tracing. i just reversed the design on one side. it was actually pretty simple and did not take that long. it looks nice at night when the light on the sump comes on and its backlit. another plus is i can check on the equip and water level with a glance instead of opening the doors. and ty sister for the compliment.

I actually just took this tank down last week, but I wanted something modern feeling for a 10 gallon contest that I was in.

I found this inspiration:

Here is the result:

Here is the functionality:

Sump is on the right, storage for two good size containers down low (one below and one off to the left), lights and a little more storage above. I have an extra line tied into the pump outlet so I can just slide a jug under the right side, spin a valve and nicely pump out the water for a water change.

Here's how the tank was looking in it's prime:

After I moved I had it wall mounted in the basement for a bit:

Sorry, I looked all through this thread because I thought I had posted in it before but couldn't find it. I now realize a thread split occurred... but I did give more detail this time :)

I love, love, love this sleak modern design. If you have a thread that shows how you built it can you please post it. I am very interested in seeing and reading more details on this build. Thanks for posting.

Oak plywood elos style stand.

"White washed" sides and rear.
gloss black top and door (i'll be running it bare bottom)

It's the first stand I ever made, and I'm happy with most of it.
