I'm still working my way through these pages, but did anyone use planks, or flooring, or like cedar closet liner?

I had considered it but I was concerned about noise/light seepage through the seams as the tank is in our family room.

Yea I'm thinking about using the cedar closet liner for my 40b. But not real sure how I want to trim the edges, and do the doors. Was looking for inspiration.

Does anyone have any step by step photos of their trim work going into place? Its phenomenal ... and I'm not even sure where to start

not done yet - need corner trim and going to finish the inside with shelfs on the 2 ends and light the center for something in there - the sump has been moved into the basement and that will allow for decor or supplies to be kept inside - i dont want to add doors - just have it light and show off some nice old coral pieces i have had for many years

Initially installed a glass door. Wasn't convinced so I made a wood door shown in second pic.

Where did you get the glass door and hinges? I'm looking to do something similar.

Door was salvaged from the previous stand that came with the tank.

I did get the hinges from Lowe's tho. They have them in the hardware section in some drawers labeled "hard to find".

This thread has been an invaluable resource for ideas and a gigantic detriment because I have tried too hard to become a perfectionist after looking at some of these. My kudos goes out to these builders for two reasons...#1) the amazing finished product that you guys have created. Truly some tremendous carpenters in here and #2) to anyone who was smart enough to know to remove all their reef equipment (tanks, sumps, skimmers, return pumps, plumbing, etc) BEFORE cutting all the wood and creating a sawdust tornado. :crazy1:
This component is what has taken me the longest to complete. Can't wait to be done and post some pictures.

Here is mine. Completely DIY. I used formica laminate on the entire inside to keep it water tight in case of an overflow. Wire conduit to hide all the wires in the main compartment. Each side has its own separate door to access all the electrical components, dosing pumps, and topoff water.
