Show me your mature icefire echinata

Logan, I saw your icefire colony photo on the other forum, and being that I am joined to so many forums, I've not come across anyone else with such a large colony and looking so stunning. So the prize most certainly goes to you.

Haha, thanks man! There was a guy from Cleveland that used to have a larger colony, not sure what has happened to that aquarium since, it was a few years ago when I had seen the pictures online. Maybe I can keep this colony going another 6 years, surely I'll need a larger aquarium by then!

Looks like it..
How long have you had it?
Was it a colony or a frag when you got it?

I have only had it for about 2-3 months.. It was a colony when i got it. It was in a ausi import, that a dealer had done. I took the chance, and bought it even though my luck with Echinatas hasent ben that greath before. But so far this one have grown quite a bit, so mabye i were just lucky..

Here is mine, I've had it for over 5 years. I run T5's (almost 100% blues) and blue reefbrite LEDs as supplement.

Stunning growth form!!!!

Amazing color!!!!

Thanks to both of you for posting. I would love to have this one, one day, but each piece I see come in goes to stores that brown them out or bleach them. I can't ever seem to find one thats healthy or a new arrival that looks worth the risk. And no one near me that I know has one that's worth getting a piece from. :(

All beatuiful pieces here... Do we know what is the common light, current, and other parameters fit best for icefire echinata?

Buy a brown one they color up easily, I find echinata an easier to keep sps with bright color

Yea I have much better luck with brown corals as well, unfortunately the places I see them browned at are not good with keeping clean corals so I pass most of the time. I am holding off for an aquacultures piece to get some better luck. Also most of the time this coral comes in bleached, 90 percent of the time. I got a brown coral last month, now its purple with neon pink polyps, just one month is all it took, I love coral :)

Keep the pics coming!

Well, I got pretty good satisfaction out of this little thread..
Some very nice colonies to aspire to..
I figured I'd give it a little bump to see if anybody else out there has a beauty hiding up their sleeve..

Mine is getting hard to photograph.

Therman that's fantastic, such a crummy frag you got at first, could he have given you a smaller one! But it's grown to such an huge and awesome colony! Well done.
