Cool how You all do that.
Smoke and mirrors! :D

Check out one of the first links on how some of these are done.

I wonder if that is one rock, or a few stacked? Very nice.

its a rock stack. i had talked to bobherbertperry about the tank. its a 60g cube, with a PVC frame. the base is covered with rocks and the pillar is 5 or 6 hand selected pieces with holes drilled in them and then slid on to the frame.

that tank along with another tank i've seen in a diary thread around here somewhere have inspired my to do something different on my next tank...no more standard rock piles for me! :D

That's why I am asking the question. I have a 225 to set up next month and I'm doing something different. I don't want rock piles, walls, etc.. but something very unique. I have some great ideas, and they keep getting better with pictures like those, thanks!

on a smaller scale you can use plastic coat hanger Just cut out the horizontal part, and drill with a 1/4" drill bit. that's what i did 2 years ago and everything's great. sorry no pics aval

Have you seen this one?

Reef Bond? What is that, some kind of powder that mixes to a reef safe plaster? Apparently only available in Germany.

Joseph, where you been??

Yes, I am going to use the rocks I have, and drill a hole in them to put a rod thru. I feel that I should use what I already have and not buy anymore LR. I found some rods that is the same material as starboard and will work great.

Well, I'm still going with pillars in my tank and decided to open up the bins that have been cooking my rock since November and see what I could build.

Came up with a few ideas:

Large pillar front

Large pillar back

I really need to put something next to these for reference, this has about a 3' base, and is 20" tall.

I'm doing two pillars and 2 overhangs in my 215 inwall right now. Although it's not a pillar, I finished the first overhang today.

I still need to add more rock around the base.

I also started on one of the pillars but ran out of flat rocks.

TCU Reefer, that looks like it's going to turn out very nice, I like it! I should have put a coke can next to mine for comparison. The first one is about 30" x 20" at the base, and 20" tall with a 10" ledge/overhang. The second one is a little smaller. I plan on having two more, but not as big of a base.

Jent, I like the double cave.

the nice thing about the rock pile pillars is that it creates a lot of nooks holes for small fish to hide, whereas the premade ones are pretty scares for hiding spots.
