I think it could be either, but I'm leaning much more toward cyphastrea. I think those calling it a cyphastrea decadia are ID'ing it from this. Tyree may have been wrong when he ID'd it originally but once it's an "LE" you can't just go changing the name.

This is what he calls a echinopora mammiformis.

Yes You are correct that is where I got me ID's from... And the mine looks more like the cyphastrea from those links, but http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/101-200/Species pages/144.htm looks more like it...so I think Tyree had the wrong id.

Does anyone have some good placement info for this coral?

ok, durr...I have two books and I just looked them up ...according to Borneman, they are actually very common in the wild...and they enjoy turbilant conditions and high light.

Awesome Piece!!!! What did you pay if you do not mind me asking.

I stole it for 34 bucks. One of a kind frag that made its way into a LFS.

Here is a pic from october last year when I got it . It is a slow grower now that I look back . It is sitting next to the Benette yellow tort which now is huge while the other one is like it is in the first pic.

I can't say for sure but the body of mine really lightens up in direct light light. I got it from pucci 3 years ago and it was one single polyp. His was high and under 400 watt helios but Every time I tried to move mine up it bleached.
