I need to take another picture of his tank. I added a bunch of razor calupera, some Kenya tree, took out the coral skeleton, and did a few other things. It looks more "wild" now but he seems to like it just fine!

Looks really great! I love the natural look and how open it is. If I was a mantis I would be loving it in there too :)
do you have covers on your overflow and return? From the pic it kind of looks like a potential mantis killer but I could be seeing incorrectly. Great Job though

Sorry for camera phone, need to bring a real camera to work one of these days

Finally got my juvenile 1.5" peacock 2 weeks ago,
Starting to add some color with corals and anenomes

No, I don't have covers on my overflow or return, but Sam's not much of a swimmer and if he did go down the drain he'd end up in a large sump, so I doubt he'd get hurt. I've had him for 5 months or so and not once have I seen him "swimming." He stalks stuff but it's always him darting from behind one rock to another before he goes in for the kill. After knowing that, do you still think I should cover both openings?

That depends, if your sump first hits filter media or something where he could get trapped and potentially suffocated. If so it could be a problem, even though he does not swim he can if he felt the need to I am sure, so as a precaution I would personally get the overflow covered at least. The only time the return would be a problem is if you had a power outage and he managed to swim in there and get stuck but I highly doubt that would ever happen. Up to you in the long run, it would just suck if you did a great job of taking care of him only to have him commit mantis suicide via the overflow not being covered. Not to say he will, but its a possibility.

Bella's House :)

Bella's House :)

Here's my heavily modded NanoWave 9, using a full-width overflow and DIY LED lighting -- she LOVES her house!

The obligatory FTS:
