My Olive (tang)

Here are my babies. They were in a 36 gal living area with 60# LR and 4 other fish. Now have 125 gal swimming room and numberous different foods daily.
Notice discoloration on Olives face it is almost disappeared.

Hey regina, your Olive tang(in the first pic) looks almost exactly like my Brown-Eared Surgeonfish (Acanthurus gahhm or Acanthurus nigricauda) except yours has brown zig zag stripes and mine doesn't have any at all. Very nice looking Tangs/Surgeonfish everyone! Keep em comin'!

When I rescued Olive from that 36 gal tank the man said she was an olive tang. I have been told she was a bariene tang, really doesnt matter to me she is my favorite fish she is always waiting for me to feed her. lol She has a beautiful blue ridge on her fins, she is probably a he. lol She will absolutely live the rest of her life with me and swimming back and forth the 6ft tank.

Our newly acquired Vlamingi tang (Charley)-- about 10" long, only 2 years old:

There's a Desjardin Red Sea Sailfin lurking in there, along with the Magnificent Foxface Rabbitfish in the first photo. The Foxface and the Sailfin were the big guys in the tank until we adopted Charley. They were so intimidated they wouldn't come out to eat for 2-3 days, but now all feed in harmony, though the Vlamingi is still at the head of the chow line...

Wow! Your Vlamingi tang is HUGE!!!! lol How much nori do you feed Charley to keep him full? LOL

Nice fish everyone. I turned down a large achillie's this evening :(

And that will complete my tang collection

Eddy, I too passed on a 7" Achilles last winter from a LFS that was closing its door. I could have bought the fish for 150$. They had him for 3-4 years and he was fat and healthy. I regret dearly passing on that fish.

I feed three (full) sheets of nori to the tank each day... Charley gets the bulk of it, and has the poop to prove it! :fish1:

I place the nori on the glass held firmly in place by a Sure-Grip Model 100 magnet (I just place the nori under the "wet" side magnet and let the magnet's rubber pads clamp the food to the glass). If I used a regular seaweed clip, the tangs would just rip it out and try to eat the whole thing in a few gulps...
