will a purple and a yellow get along?

If added at the same time they should get along but because they are in the same genus if you add them seperately they will be very agressive towards each other.

the yellow was the first
followed by the blue tang
sailfin
foxface
and soon to have the powder blue

everytime the yellow has to have a little talk with them about his rules for living with him and then everything is fine:D

Here is something I thought quite strange. On Saturday, I will be going to Egypt and I found out there is a place you can do fishing out of the protected ares, so I looked on the website and it claims that you can catch Tangs. I thought this was very strange because we all know they are Herbivores but will eat meaty foods in aquaria. I thought when they are in the ocean they are strict herbivore. Not quite sure what to make of it.

so add a yellow first than a purple ? or release both the same day into the tank?

first I would never add fish directly to my tank--quarantine them for 2-4 weeks for observation of ich ect

secondly add too fish at once to a new established tank can be a drain on the bioload of your system aka give you a spike in ammonia

JMO I would add the tang first and let it establsh a territory--something it can do in a 90 gal all by itself.
If you put the yellow in after other fish then it could possible get in everyother fish's face trying to get established

you would really eat a tang:eek2:

What bait are they suggesting you use

well im going to set up a QT tank. my tank doesnt even have water in it yet. im still buying bulk heads sumps building a canopy but eventully i want to have a few tangs in my tank.
could i QT a purple and a yellow tang in the same tank at the same time?
or should i put a baffle in my QT tank ? this might be the answer =P

i plan on QTing and during the QT doing three 5 minute FW dips ( 1.009 ) for all of my fish.
but regardless
what order should i introduce the tangs?
if i were to get these 3 tangs

purple tang
yellow tang
convict tang

I would suggest one tang at a time in the qt in light of controlling the ammonia produced by them in the qt tank.

I would only recommend you do the FW dip if something is wrong. Otherwise I say you should observe them for 4 weeks in QT at normal reef parameters.

this needs a tank of at least 1/4 mile with a bare bottom and NO rocks.

the tank must also be at least 3 times as wide as the tang

the mus tang requires a strict diet of 91 octane gas or "shell 'v' power" and castrol GTX oil change every 15000mi

I've heard those tangs can be quite aggressive and territorial and need a lot of maintenance to be happy.
