on that note........who has the largest tang here??

way at the beginning of this thread someone posted a 13 inch regal or blue tang

Semper- I agree, I have seen my share of LFS workers without morals....some do have standards, but others are just out to make a buck no matter what haoppens to the fish. I saw a 18" Vil Tang in a 450g tank, seemed to have plenty of room..I wonder how long it'd take to get from 5" to 12"+ Depends on feeding I suppose.

I think all of the Purple Tangs come from the Red Sea. Right?

Yes, as far as I'm aware they are an endemic species.

My guess is not even 6 months and its a huge shame that this fish is collected because they get picked up and put it so many 75g, 120g and 150g tanks which really isn't big enough and unless somebody is planning a huge tank, they shouldn't be bought.

Please, nobody take this as a "Don't buy this fish unless you have a huge tank, youre doing it wrong" etc.

Michika, Will you be getting a new Vlamingi for the 1k?

Capn, Any updates on the PBT?

its doing great--I'd post some pictures but I am still without a decent camera

No more fish for that 110gal though
yellow tang
regal tang
sailfin tang
powder blue tang
fox face tang(he thinks he is one of the boys)
1 copper banded butterfly fish
2 anthias
2 damsels
4 gobies
1 bartlette
coral beauty angle
cream angel

and amazingly they are all happy together.

I already got another Vlaminigi. It came in on a shipment marked as a Naso tang. Its about 3.5" from nose to tail, eats well, and displays the fantastic laid back personality this tang is known for. However its growing wider rather the longer right now.

Ah, great. I did see a pic with a Vlamingi in it on your thread but didn't know if it was an old pic and I just forgot to ask.

Glad to hear it. You have a good collection of fish there. Any more when you upgrade?

for sure--more tangs and the one damsel is gone(the other one is fine)

The new Vlamingi, Mr. E. Meat II, has been with us for about a month now I think. I'd have to look. He is very buddy buddy with the Naso.

I am planning on adding a Zebrasoma desjardinii to my 125 gal. soon.
In my search I see specimens from both Sri Lanka and Red Sea. Is there a difference? Does anyone have examples of both?

P.S.
I already have a Naso, And plan on adding a powder brown, achilles and powder blue when I get my 300 gal built. Any advice is appreciated.
