Show off your Vodka dosed SPS Reef tanks!

Thank you! You guys who dose MB7 it necessary??

I can't say whether it is necessary or not. My guess is that it is not. The belief is that it helps to keep the beneficial bacteria ahead of the nuisance strains like cyano.

Thanks to everyone for posting. Very very nice tanks. Its good to see many nice tanks running on vodka. Shows that the method really works. I dabbled with Zeovit for a while and prefer the vodka method as its a little bit simpler.

Keepon posting though. Its good to get collections of similar based systems in one thread. :)

I just started dosing my PAR38 lit 200g DD with Vodka in the last week i'll get some pics of it up in the next day or two

but my method is to only dose the Vodka 2-3 days out of the week, i do this along with B-ionic Alk/Calc and mag additions, other than that i just feed and do water changes try to keep it as simple as possible

Wow! Tom your system is superb and very nice tanks and corals collection.

Would like to share my tank pics too, now in the 4mnth redosing vodka at 10ml with alternate weekly dosing bacterias MB7 and Biodigest. So far so good with PO4 and NO3 in check. Had done vodka dosing since September last year and force me to stopped awhile coz of bad bacteria bloom. So less say and pic shown;

Mix reef 210 net gal system, sorry for the crappy pic

Nice collections.

90 has 60 net gallons....dosing almost 2 years currrently at 12.5cc/d

175 has 170 net gallons....dosing about 1.5 years currently at 20.5cc/d

I've ben dosing over 2.5 years now. My 110g is now a 150g. Average about 30mL per day.

550 gallon system , daily dosing 26 ml vodka and 64ml vinegar( vinegar is 95% water and 8x weaker than 80 proof vodka which is 60% water , so the total daily dose is equal to 34 ml vodka.

Thanks for the comment Thairun. Your tank looks great ,lots of healthy growing vibrant corals.

Variety in the carbon source should encourage a bit of diversity in the bacteria as different strains get the edge with different sources.
In my case, I was dosing just vodka for about a year( except for a brief and negative experience with sugar).I had a bit of persistent cyanobacteria in a frag tank with a sand bed. Randy Farley reported. anecdotally, that using more vinegar vs vodka in his system coincided with a reduction in cyanobcteria. I dropped my vodka dose by 8ml and added 64 ml of vodka. The cyano abated and I've stayed with that combo for about a year now.
